Luna was glad that she wouldn’t be in the way. She nodded in agreement to sticking close, she had already figured that out anyway. “I don’t mind riding in a helicopter. As you said it would be quicker, easier, and safer that way.” She hadn’t ever actually ridden in a helicopter before, but she couldn’t see how she would mind once she was in it. She was afraid of heights or crafts that flew through the air and so she didn’t think riding in one now would pose much of a problem for her.
She listened quietly as Lucan lectured Phillips and the other man gave his excuses. In a way she could understand Phillips’s point of view. It was sometimes hard to not give in to Usagi when she really wanted something and a minute ride down an elevator shaft didn’t seem all that dangerous. Besides, she agreed that Usagi had a right to her privacy. Luna had seen how hard it was for Usagi to never have a minute alone and if she could give her the privacy she craved she would. However, this incident proved that it wasn’t always possible. Here in the palace where it was fairly safe would be one thing ... out there where anyone could be laying in wait, that was an entirely different matter.
Luna sighed softly when Lucan glanced her way before speaking up. “I do understand how hard it is to not give in to Usagi. I also understand about wanting to give her just some little something to try and make things better, but ... but Usagi doesn’t always think things through before she does them. She’s scared now and upset. If you had gone with her, she might have been annoyed but she would have gotten over it and then she wouldn’t be alone right now.”
Well Luna supposed Usagi wasn’t really alone, but Mamoru was not the kind of company that Luna was referring to. If Phillips had been there, he would have had the equipment needed to keep Usagi in touch ... perhaps even a light of some kind so that Usagi wouldn’t be in such a hard situation. Luna flicked her tail in irritation, but there was really nothing else she could say that Lucan hadn’t already said.
