1/2PM FYI (Luna/Lucan)

[Luna]

At the sound of her name, Luna raised her head sleepily from her position on Usagi’s bed. She had been awaiting Usagi’s return from where ever she had gone to this evening and had obviously fallen asleep.

Luna briefly shook her head and muttered, “I’m turning into a house cat with all these naps I keep taking. I need to get out and be more active unless I want to turn into a fat and lazy house pet that Usagi keeps wanting me to be. That’s the last thing I need.”

She glanced at the clock and noticed it was after 10 already. She had definitely expected Usagi back a lot sooner then this, although she hadn’t really known where Usagi was going to. Luna had been told that Usagi was ‘going out’ earlier. However, Usagi hadn’t bothered to inform her where she was going, when she would be back, or even who she was going with. Luna had just assumed that she would be back a lot sooner then this. She wasn’t terribly concerned, it was possible that Usagi was in her office doing some late night work.

Luna leaped off the bed and headed out to see who was calling her. She was fairly certain that it was Lucan, but then why would he be calling for her at 10 at night.

The black cat froze momentarily as she briefly wondered if there was some sort of trouble. That was really the only reason she could think of why Lucan wouldn’t just wait until morning if he wanted to speak with her.

Quickening her pace, Luna arrived in the room that Lucan was standing in a lot faster then she might have done moments before. She looked up at him, her tail twitching worriedly as she asked, “Is there something wrong Lucan?”

[Luna]

Luna tilted her head a little to the side as she listened to Lucan. There wasn’t exactly trouble, but she might disagree? What the heck was that suppose to mean? Either there was trouble or there wasn’t trouble. Luckily Lucan continued before she was forced to ask him what he meant.

Mamoru? Why would Usagi be with Mamoru? She flicked her tail again in mild irritation at the thought. All that drama about breaking up and she was going to go out with him just days later? Well, she had her reasons. Luna was certain of that, perhaps there had been something about the Shitennou they needed to discuss or maybe Usagi was going to follow through with Lucan’s advise and attempt to keep Mamoru close. That particular reason still left a bad taste in her mouth so Luna didn’t think much on it. Whatever the reason, Luna was certain that Usagi knew what she was doing, although the more she listened the more she worried. Dinner and then a bookstore and staying out late, it all added up to only one thing in her mind, a date.

Luna only hoped that Usagi knew what she was doing. She didn’t want her to get hurt. Of course all charitable thoughts flew out of Luna’s head when she heard the rest of what Lucan was saying. Sailor Moon had treated the other patrons to a rendition of ‘My Short Skirt’ from the Vagina Monologues? What on earth ...

She glanced down at the article at her feet and read it through slowly, her tail beginning to twitch madly as she did so. Finally she glanced back up at Lucan and spat, “Just what do those two idiots think they are doing? She’s the queen of the world for goodness sake. She can’t go around doing stupid stunts like this.”

[Luna]

Luna started to nod in agreement when Lucan said that Usagi and Mamoru had been a bit unpredictable lately. She knew that Usagi had been acting oddly ever since the breakup. She hadn’t really seen Mamoru since then, but she assumed that Lucan was referring to the way Usagi said he had acted during the confrontation. Therefore when Lucan went on to mention Usagi’s drunken escapades and Mamoru getting arrested because of drunken brawling, Luna could only stare at him in incredulity.

“Arrested, drunken brawling, what are you talking about?!”

The drunken escapades she knew about, after all she had seen the consequences of it. Luna had been disappointed in her queen’s behavior, but moderately understanding at the time. She knew how much misery and stress Usagi had been feeling lately and so she had forgiven her the loss of judgement.

Luna had not however heard anything about Mamoru getting arrested because of drunken brawling. The concept totally blew her mind. Mamoru didn’t do things like that, he was responsible, logical, and sensible. He didn’t get drunk and then start brawls, at least she didn’t think he did.

Of course, she could have been benevolent in her opinion of Mamoru. He was probably just as miserable as Usagi had been over the last few days. However, Luna was nothing but loyal to her charge. Usagi had told her that Mamoru had scared her during that confrontation. He had acted in a very different manner then Usagi had expected at the time. He had also been keeping his contact with their former enemies quiet for years. They might be attempting to trust the reawakening Shitennou these days, but that didn’t stop the fact that they had once been enemies and could be again.

If Mamoru could act in these unforgivable ways, it was entirely conceivable in her mind that he might be capable of doing other things that she hadn’t first thought him capable of. Usagi had said she didn’t know Mamoru anymore, perhaps she was right. He wasn’t the man they thought he had been and what was this about nightclubs?

This just made Luna even more annoyed then she already was and she couldn’t help snapping, “They obviously shouldn’t be in the same room together then! What is Usagi doing out with him anyway? Dinner, bookstores, nightclubs ... this is sounding suspiciously like a date to me. Does keeping him close mean dating the man these days?”

Luna glared at Lucan and growled, “Being twenty-four does not give her the right to behave in such a way. You didn’t have an entire world government waiting to watch you slip up and forgetting all that for a moment, she knows good and well that her ability to henshin into sailor moon isn’t a toy. This is not a game we are all playing here, decisions like these can hurt her.”

[Luna]

Luna twitched her whiskers before muttering reluctantly, “I’ve been worried about other things lately. I haven’t really watched the news for the past few days. I wouldn’t know much about the police though, so I’ll take your word for it.” She glanced up curiously when he said it got even better before she noticed his smile and grinned in amusement, “Surely it wasn’t you he called ...”

She listened quietly to Lucan as he tried to reassure her that Mamoru wouldn’t ever hurt Usagi physically. Luna would like to believe that, but what if Mamoru had fooled everyone? No, she couldn’t believe that. She trusted Lucan’s instincts and she also had her own feelings to go on. Besides, Usagi had said that it was more the fact that he was so angry, not that he appeared dangerous. She glanced up at him and nodded, “I trust that your judgement Lucan, it’s just easy to get worried.” She twitched her tail a little as she added, “As for the date, you can rest assured that I’ll get to the bottom of that.”

Luna continued to glare at Lucan for a moment before relaxing. “You have a point again, it could have been worse. I’m just saying that she needs to think things through more carefully or she’s going to get hurt.”

She nodded when he went on about how world leaders may physically age considerably. Luna had heard that before. She wouldn’t ever have to worry about that happening to Usagi, though Lucan’s next words didn’t help her feel less anxious any. “Thank you ... I don’t really need more anxiety these days,” she replied drily.

[Luna]

Luna grinned in amusement at the thought of proud Mamoru having to call on Lucan. He must have hated it. She certainly didn’t feel sorry for him, after all he shouldn’t have gotten himself in that predicament in the first place. She briefly wondered what had caused the brawl, just getting drunk wouldn’t have done that. Luna declined asking however simply because she was certain Lucan wouldn’t have told her even if he did know. “I’m glad that the charges were dropped then.”

She studied Lucan quietly for a moment before nodding. “I trust you Lucan. If you say Mamoru wouldn’t harm her then I believe you. You are good at your job and I see no reason to doubt you on this, especially since I never would have thought him capable before this.”

Luna twitched her tail worriedly, frowning a little. She didn’t really like the thought of Usagi being so buried under immense political pressure and leadership responsibilities that she would subconsciously lash out. She would have to keep an eye on her better, perhaps find a way to allow her to relax without all the pressures she dealt with on a daily basis. She glanced back up at Lucan and said, “Don’t worry about me Lucan, I’ve spent my life worrying about Usagi’s well being.” She gave him an amused smile as she added, “I find ways to deal with my own anxiety ... have no fear.”

[Luna]

“I’ll be certain to try and figure out ways to allow Usagi to deal with her own issues,” Luna replied vaguely. She didn’t really know how she was going to help Usagi through these tough times. Usagi needed to relax, but it wasn’t going to be easy to find the time to do so. Still after talking with Lucan, Luna was determined to think of something although she was also aware that some of this Usagi herself would have to find her own answers. Usagi would to find her own path, not simply be led to it.

Luna nodded and murmured, “I can’t think of anything else. Unless of course you know when Usagi might return home?”

[Luna]

Luna blinked and stared at Lucan in surprise for a good long moment before finally saying slowly, “Psychiatrists? You mean for Usagi?” She tilted her head a little and asked, “or are you asking more for someone else?”

She shrugged, her tail flicking nervously as she added, “I don’t really have much of an opinion on them. They could be helpful I suppose. I haven’t ever talked to one and I doubt that we would get much done if I tried. I don’t really think they’d feel very comfortable talking with a cat.”

Luna nodded in understanding. It really was too much to hope that he would know when Usagi planned on being home.” She shook her head and said, “I don’t plan on going to bed until she returns home. I have a few things I want to talk with her about now.”

[Luna]

Luna ignored the smirk figuring it had derived from her comment about never having talked with a psychiatrist. She curled her tail around her front paws and said with as much dignity as she possessed, “I am not going to an animal psychiatrist, as I’ve told Usagi before I’m trying to portray myself as more then just a cat. That would not give off the right kind of image, don’t you agree?”

She didn’t ask him to elaborate on what the people he was referring to simply because she knew that he wouldn’t. If he would divulge the secrets of these people so easily then she wouldn’t be trusting him half as much. “I suppose the stress could drive anyone to needing to see a mental health professional, or even take medicines to help them cope with it.” Luna frowned a little before adding, “I don’t think Usagi is at that point yet, though she is under a lot of stress. Perhaps having someone to talk to would be beneficial ...”

Luna twitched her whiskers thoughtfully and said, “As for people having a stigma against them. That probably comes from people worrying about seeming weak. They probably feel that when people think they need some kind of help like that they might view them as less powerful or capable then before. In my experience people don’t like to feel weak in the eyes of their peers.”

Again Luna twitched her tail irritably and muttered, “She probably will return home tipsy. Usagi doesn’t hold her alcohol very well if you haven’t noticed by now.”

[Luna]

“You have a point I suppose,” Luna murmured thoughtfully. “If they were professionals then they would have to keep the client-patient privileges. Still, I think I’d rather not risk it.”

Luna listened as Lucan listed the many different things that could happen to a person’s mental health. She was beginning to feel a little uneasy, not liking to think of Usagi go through some of those things. The self-esteem issues one bothered her the most. She knew that Usagi had always had a bit of a self-esteem problem while she was growing up. Luna hadn’t taken much notice to know if she still had that problem. She could only hope that Usagi had gotten over them. She would hate to think that they might be magnified if she did. Then there was all the rest of it, the entire subject was beginning to make her worry again. She didn’t want Usagi to have to suffer as some of these other people Lucan referred to did. “I hope that Usagi never has to experience any of that Lucan.”

She nodded and murmured, “It isn’t just the people that need the help that have a negative view of psychiatrists. The rest of the world takes a dim view of them and the people that need them as well.”

Luna smiled, her whiskers twitching in amusement as she said, “I haven’t the faintest idea how much alcohol I could tolerate. Seeing as how I weigh a lot less then Usagi does I would imagine I would have even more trouble then she does. However, I don’t intend to find out the real answer. I really don't want to find myself doing something that I would regret later.”

[Luna]

Luna nodded in acceptance of his words, but dropped the matter. She knew that Lucan hadn’t really been suggesting that she see a psychiatrist, he had only been talking about one.

She shook her head and murmured, “Don’t apologize Lucan. You were not the only one carrying on the conversation. Besides, I like to be fully abreast of everything going on or that is likely to go on with Usagi or any of the senshi.” She froze and stared at Lucan in startled dismay when he asked if she was sure she hasn’t already experienced those things.

Luna flicked her tail uneasily as she thought back to everything that had been happening over the last few days. It was true that Usagi hadn’t been acting herself lately, but she had assumed that it was because of the breakup between her and Mamoru. However, when she really stopped to think about it some of these things had been going on even before that. She had been distancing herself from her friends for quite some time now and then there was the whole deal with the car explosion and keeping it away from them. Usagi had said she had forgotten, but could one really forget something as important to your life as that.”

Her claws scraped uneasily against the floor beneath her as she said reluctantly, “I suppose it is entirely possible ...”

She nodded in understanding when he said that was one of the reasons that you didn’t hear about those people. Still feeling uneasy Luna asked slowly, “Just what sort of measures would be taken in the event that something like that was needed.”

Luna grinned at him and replied mischievously, “Haven’t you ever heard how dangerous curiosity could be?”

[Luna]

Luna continued to flick her tail uneasily as she pondered Usagi’s mental and emotional health. The more she thought about it, the more she was beginning to believe that she might have missed something crucial in Usagi’s well being. She nodded and murmured grudging, “I think ...I think maybe it might be a good idea to have a long talk with her and figure out if she’s in need of something more then I can give.”

She nodded before saying, “Forgive me for being ignorant in such matters, but really it never occurred to me to wonder about such things. Now however, I have to wonder if I haven’t made another grave error in judgement about what I viewed as important or not.”

Luna simply grinned again and said, “Then by all means go find out, but don’t expect to test your new knowledge on me. I would have to suggest using Artemis as a guinea pig, he doesn't scratch as much.”

[Luna]

Luna nodded slowly, though she didn’t say anything more. She would talk to Usagi, hopefully they were both wrong and she was simply stressed over what was currently going on in her life.

“You might have known more about these kinds of things Lucan, but I am the one that was suppose to guide and advise Usagi.” She hung her head a little and murmured sadly, “I should have noticed that something was wrong. I haven’t been doing a very good job making sure she was ok. Forgetting that I’m suppose to be a guide and advisor, I’m suppose to be a friend too. A friend that has been sitting right there all along and not noticing something might have been wrong. That doesn’t feel like a very good friend to me.” She sighed before looking back up at Lucan and shaking her head, “I don’t agree that the fault only lies with you Lucan.”

Luna grinned and shook her head. “I’ll look forward to seeing what you find then, if only for mere curiosity.”

[Luna]

Luna gave him a grateful smile and nodded, “You are right again of course. Bickering over who is to blame won’t help anything.” She paused a moment before adding, “I doubt very much I could get into that kind of discussion tonight. It’ll be too late and there’s no telling what condition she’s going to come home in. If I need any help, I’ll be sure to let you know.”

She merely returned his smirk and replied, “We’ll just say that you are a bad influence on me in making danger sound more of an attraction then a deterrent.”

[Luna]

Luna pondered the question for a moment before slowly saying, “I think that it might be a good idea to involved Lady Mercury. As you said, she is Usagi’s preferred doctor and she might know what kind of things to look for or to ask better then I might know.”

She pointed an admonishing paw at him and teased, “Lucan I have no intention of having some person follow me around to make sure I’m safe. People rarely notice me at their feet. I like wandering amongst them without them being aware of me. I pick up interesting tidbits of conversation. If someone were following me then other people would notice me and I wouldn’t get half as much enjoyment out of my day. Besides, I rarely ever leave this palace and when I do it’s with Usagi or one of the senshi.”

[Luna]

Luna looked at Lucan curiously before saying, “I won’t mention I talked to you unless the situation requires it. How’s that?” She would have to agree. Usagi and possibly even the other senshi might not appreciate the fact that Lucan was worried about Usagi’s mental health. At the very least Usagi would be embarrassed, at the worst she’d be upset. Luna wasn’t really certain how it would go over with her asking about it and she had been a friend and advisor for a long time now.

She stared at Lucan for a good long moment, trying to decide if he was joking or not. Luna really wasn’t at all certain what kind of skills Lucan and his men could preform. She was fairly certain they could follow someone without others knowing, but could they follow someone and they not even know they were being followed? Finally she murmured, “I ... I don’t ... can you do that? Follow someone and they not realize it?”
