Siblings: (in order) Marcie, Antonie, Bastien & Blaise (twins), Felice, Nicole, Simon, Mathis, Theodore, Sophie, and Rosalie
--Plus, more cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. than he can shake a stick at.
Appearance:
Personality: Despite his vastly lower-class roots, Zacharie has long since learned to surround himself with pretenses of dignity and haughtiness. Though a more gentle soul at the heart of his being, time has long since squashed this tendency into a rude shade of its former self; no longer does Zacharie allow others to get too close to him, for he sees little point to it.
In what might seem at first as a total contradiction of this, Zacharie's entire being depends upon the people about him. Constantly in search of the acceptance and praise that he rarely, if ever, got as a child, Zacharie comes off as being more than little bit of a brat. He'll do or say just about anything that he can to get attention, though this interaction will be cut short if it dares approach a topic too close to "home."
History:
Zacharie was born to Marcie and Jean Paul Babineaux, a couple far past their prime and already grandparents several times over before he was ever thought of. The youngest of twelve, Zacharie found that the stereotype of "spoiled baby" didn't really apply to him; rather than get his way with his aging mother, Zacharie was often overlooked or else treated with indifference. It wasn't that his parents didn't care, but that after so many children the pair of them were tired and more inclined to allow Zachary his "independence."
Marcie and Jean-Paul had married young, but their first child had been born several years before that event, when they were both yet in high school. As such, Zacharie's closest sibling, Rosalie, is yet fifteen years older than him. Zacharie grew up having the house (mostly) to himself, in terms of sibling presence, and became very disconnected from them; to this day, he considers himself to be very much an only child, though he'd never be so uncoothe as to say so to his family members.
He was, however, a beautiful child; of that, there was no doubt. Small, frail and unbearably feminine, Zacharie was ever out of place with the roughly mannered boys with which he was expected to play. Though masculine in his own way, he often found himself regulated to the "girl's games" during recess and being left behind when the other boys went mucking about in the swamps. At first hurt by this, Zacharie soon found his place among the women. He was adored by the girls for listening to their problems and being willing to play dress up and test cosmetics with them. This eventually came back to haunt him as they grew older when all the other children wrote him off as a homosexual.
In a town whose population barely cleared two-thousand, everyone knew everyone else. In fact, most of the population consisted of a shocking number of first and second cousins. With the dating pool already rather limited, assuming that one had an issue with cousin loving, it came as a kick in the teeth that those few girls had little romantic interest in him for no reason other than their own misguided assumptions. Perhaps it was because of this, and the further alienation from his fellow males, that Zoisite began to pour all of his energy into the music in his life.
His mother, a piano teacher, had taught all of her children to play the piano but it was Zoisite who showed the most interest in it. It was in this alone that he got her undivided attention; by the time that he was in his teens, it had gone from a chore to a well-loved escape. When he finally thought to put his voice to his music his talent soared. His choir teacher was the one to suggest he get involved with a theater group based in the outskirts of nearby New Orleans; with his parent's approval and loaned car, Zacharie began to spend his weekends and, eventually, afternoons at the playhouse.
It was there that he had the purest good fortune to be among the first cast to their director's newest play, "The Good Old Boy." Though he didn't have the lead role, his part was a major support to the lead. When the play was a hit and began to make rounds in larger theatre houses in New Orleans, and later Baton Rouge, Zacharie was kept on in his role. During this time he was scene by several prominent theater directors who had come to view the new play. From there he found his next job, and the next, and the next.
Never having had any pretenses towards a higher education, Zacharie soon opted to test for his G.E.D. at seventeen so that he could take a job further away than New Orleans. Though his parents were sad to see him go, they did not stop their one child who wished for something better than a backwater swamp life. Zacharie has never once looked back at his childhood home.
Now, a few years later, Zacharie's ease with people and pure good luck has landed him several major roles, a recording contract and everything he's ever wanted--save anyone who truly understands him. Though surrounded by people, he finds it insufferable that they continue to expect him to be what they want him to be, rather than merely accepting him for the man he is.
Powers:
Control over ice. At top form, the fully "realized" Zoisite would be able to form ice out of the moisture in the air. I would think that, with reconnection to his other "half" and proper training that this might even escalate into temperature control. However, at this point in time Zoisite has little by way of "supernatural" ability other than a slight resistance to cold.
Past Life:
Zacharie remembers his past life in the form of fantasies he glimpsed and built stories upon as a child. Much of what he believes to be true about them is false, and he's long since surrendered the thoughts as nothing more than the longings of a lonely child. These days he's inclined to ground himself in what he sees as "reality," rather than pay any attention to the day dreams of his youth.
