Professional Advice 1/4 AM (Luna/Ami)

[Luna]

The more Luna thought about her discussion with Lucan the previous evening, the more she became worried about Usagi’s mental and emotional health. She had thought long and carefully about Usagi’s behavior over the last year and she was becoming more and more convinced that there was something wrong. Therefore that morning she had decided that she needed to go in to speak with Ami.

She trusted Usagi’s health to Ami far more then she did any of the other medics that resided in the palace. Knowing that sooner was better then later, Luna made her way to the palace hospital. She hesitated at the entrance, knowing that a lot of people wouldn’t really like a cat in a hospital and some people still continued to think of her as nothing but a pet.

After a moment though Luna continued on in. She wasn’t an ordinary cat and she really needed to be here. She had every right to go in here and speak with Ami and so she did. Once more she hesitated never having been in here before, but she quickly made her way over to a nurse.

The nurse blinked in surprise when she saw the small black cat stop at her feet and started to shoo her back out the door. However, Luna simply glared at the nurse and said, “I’m Luna, the queen’s advisor and I really need to speak with Ami. As soon as possible please ...”

The nurse’s mouth fell open in shock, but she quickly snapped it shut and showed Luna to the small waiting area right outside Ami’s office. The nurse still seemed a little startled to have to deal with a talking cat, but Luna ignored her jumping into one of the chairs and began waiting patiently for Ami to be able to speak with her.

Ami was insanely busy. She had had to fill out paper work to expediate her Residency--a fact that she regretted but accepted as necessary. Fortunately, she had a lot of references who would help smooth over any accusations that she some how cheated or took short cuts. Then there was trying to find someone to run the day to day aspect of the Palace hospital. She still wanted to be involved, but if she was going to serve as Surgeon General of the world, then she'd need to step back. As it was, carving out a day to actually practice medicine was promising to be a huge challenge.

She looked up from the paper work when her intercom went off. "Mizuno-san... there's... a talking... cat..."

Ami blinked, "Luna or Artemis?" Even as she asked the question, she was clearing the paper work into a neat pile.

"Uh... Luna..."

"Thank you." She stood and moved to the door to let the black cat into her office. She smiled warmly to her. "Luna. Come in. I'd have a cat door installed, but I doubt I'll be using this office much longer."

She moved to take her seat behind the desk, knowing that Luna would go wherever felt comfortable for her, and was completely comfortable with that. The other Senshi might be her sisters, but Luna was kind of like a too-young-to-be-one's-mother aunt. "How can I help you?"

[Luna]

Luna was far too worried about what was on her mind to be sidetracked with a different conversation. Although she did nod briefly at the cat door comment and murmur, “Don’t worry about it.”

She trotted into the office and leaped on to a nearby chair, making herself comfortable. “I hope that I’m not interrupting anything Ami. I know that you’ve been busy lately, but I really need to speak with you about Usagi.”

Luna folding her tail over her fore paws, hesitating only a little before continuing with what she had come here to say. “For the last week or so I’ve been concerned about Usagi. She’s not really acting like she use to act, which I know that people grow up and change, but it’s different. You’ve seen her.”

Her tail flicked slightly as she added, “At first I thought it was just everything going on currently, the Shitennou and everything with Mamoru but after speaking with ...” At the last minute Luna remembered that she had promised Lucan she wouldn’t say she had spoken with him unless the situation required it. “With someone last night, I’ve begun to realize that it isn’t just lately that Usagi has been acting odd. There’s something really wrong. She’s been distancing herself from the people that matter most to her and then there was the whole car explosion thing. She said she forgot about it, but can you really forget something like that?”

Luna’s ears drooped miserably as she added, “This other person that I spoke to, they were telling me of all the kinds of things that could happen to someone with as much on their shoulders as Usagi has. Things like psychogenic amnesia, tendencies to withdraw from their family and friends, sleep disturbances, and all sorts of other things like depression and self-esteem issues. It just really got me to think about some of the things Usagi has been doing lately and I became concerned and decided to come talk with you.”

[Mizuno Ami]

Ami frowned, her brows furrowing as she thought about what Luna said. She did not answer immediately, but that was not from ignoring her, but rather from thinking. "I thought the bit of withdrawal was the simple fact that we're causing her as much stress as anything else right now, but those are legitimate concerns."

She sighed, "I'm not a psychiatrist, Luna." Technically, she did not have any specialty since she'd not even really finished her residency, but that was beside the point. Being a GP would serve her better than being a pediatrician, especially if her sisters were going to be her primary patients. "But you're right... and I'm glad you came to me."

She did not have time to question why it had not occurred to her herself. Especially when she already knew the answer, being slightly forgetful, not wanting to worry people, even self-esteem issues, were rather normal for Usagi--though if Ami knew of the depth of those issues right now she would have not written it off.

"There's not much I can do without talking with her myself." She grinned, "Can you have an appointment with me put on her schedule? I'd like to be able to run full tests, which means it'd be better if she could come here rather than doing it in her office. And don't worry. I know how she is about needles... we'll go out to ice cream afterwards." It bothered Ami enough that there was the possibility of any other doctor taking care of Usagi if an emergency happened, she was not going to have someone else run the tests, at least not the preliminary ones.

[Luna]

Luna waited patiently, knowing that Ami was not ignoring her. “I had originally thought it might be something like that, but then after speaking with that person I started noticing that it might be something else.”

She nodded a little in response to Ami saying she wasn’t a psychiatrist. “I had hoped that maybe you would still be able to see if Usagi was ok though and if need be recommend someone for her to talk to.” Luna was glad she had come too, just sitting here talking with Ami was allowing her to relax. She was confident that Ami would be able to know how best to help Usagi, or at least know where to look to find her that help.

Luna nodded once more and murmured, “I will get an appointment put on her schedule. Is there any time that would be best for you? I’d have to make sure it fit into her schedule of course, but if there is a time best for you I’d try to make it work.” She grinned when Ami said that Usagi and her could go out for ice cream afterwards. That would help make Usagi feel better about needles and whatever else went on, it usually did. “Thank you Ami, for agreeing to check on her.”

Ami nodded, "I can run some tests, talk to her, figure out if she does need to talk to someone more trained in that field and then decide to whom I would most trust her with. I'll admit, when it comes to Usa and the others, I don't like them seeing other doctors." She blushed slightly at the admission of... jealousy?

"Luna, I may now be the... Surgeon General Designate of... the whole world." She frowned slightly at just how frightening that title sounded and then shook her head slightly, "But Usagi and the girls will always be my first priority. I can see Usagi whenever it fits into her schedule. The only time that would ever be an issue was if you more than one of you... and yes, I'm not a vet, but I'm very much including you and Artemis... needed to see me at once."

[Luna]

Luna nodded in agreement with her plans before giving a cattish smile at Ami’s next words. “I don’t really think that they would want to see any other doctor then you Ami. We all trust you, both as a friend and a doctor. Besides, being a friend I’m sure that it would be easier for them to come speak with you about things they might not be as comfortable telling another doctor.” She twitched her whiskers in amusement as she noticed the slight blush on Ami’s cheeks.

She tilted her head a little when she noticed the pause and the frown while Ami had been saying that she was now the Surgeon General Designate of the whole world. Later, when she wasn’t quite so concerned with Usagi’s mental health she would have to come back here and make certain that Ami was ok with the new duties that Usagi had set for her. It was a daunting task for one person to take on and she was sure that Ami was at least unsettled with her new role, for that matter Luna probably should check on the other girls and make certain they were handling their new roles well also. “Thank you Ami, for everything. I’ll just check Usagi’s schedule then and figure out the best time for an appointment.”

Luna paused briefly before asking, “Should I mention why I want her to come talk with you Ami? It doesn’t exactly seem fair to just spring it all on Usagi out of the blue, but if I try to explain to her that I’ve been worried about her . . . she might get upset and refuse to come.”

[Mizuno Ami]

Ami chuckled and blushed. There were disadvantages to being friend and doctor, but her not liking the girls to see anyone else had less to do with being their friend--as such she'd understand if they'd want to go to someone more clinical for certain issues--and more to do with the fact that now that they were in Crystal Tokyo, she expected the crystal to start affecting them more. That and, she really didn't want someone messing up on them!

"You're welcome, Luna. Just let me know what works for her and I'll make it open. And, yeah, I would mention it. The last thing she needs right now is to feel ambushed. We all need to work on building back trust, and I don't want to hinder that process. That means being honest. You should probably tell her that you spoke with me as well."

She grinned, "And if that doesn't work, I'm sure I can find some rule about doctor's orders regarding the queen." She winked. "No matter what troubles we're having, Luna, Usagi is my sister. I'll take care of her."

[Luna]

“I’ll get back to you on that then.” Luna nodded before adding, “I’ll tell her, in fact I’ll talk to her later today. You are right, we need to work on building back that trust. It isn’t good the way everyone has been drifting apart.”

Luna grinned at Ami’s next words, whiskers once again twitching in amusement as she said, “I’m sure there are rules like that for just such occasions.” She stood up as she added, “I know you will Ami, that’s why I came to talk to you about it.”
