Personality: On the surface, Reika is very outgoing and gregarious. She's good at networking, and knows just about everyone, or so it seems. She enjoys being sociable, but sometimes gets a little too caught up in gossip. However, her heart is always in the right place.
Despite her cheerful exterior, she is extremely serious about her studies and never let a good time get in the way of acing her exams or finishing up that paper. She wasn't motivated by grades as much as a serious intellectual curiosity, and a desire to please. She has a hard time saying no to anyone-- her professors, and her employers, and private patrons who support her archaeological digs. This sometimes causes friction between her and the people she loves, she can single-mindedly pursue what is expected of her without careful consideration on how it will effect her loved ones.
She enjoys outdoor activities, especially hiking and horseback riding. Reika also likes to read nonfiction books, mostly history and geology. In her spare time, she collects rocks, and polishes them. It's no secret that she enjoys expensive jewelry as well, and carefully follows new developments in that world.
History: Reika grew up in the Osaka area. Her mother was a housewife, and her father was very involved in imports and business. She rarely saw him on travel, but her mother never complained. She was brought up traditionally and told to become a great lady-- but her intellectual curiosities often got the better of her.
Putting marriage on the back burner, Reika went on to KO University, much to the fury of her mother. It was one of the rare times her father came out and supported her, and she still feels a bit guilty about causing a rift in the family. Reika majored in Geology. She did a long study in Africa, looking for fossil records, and then came back, pursuing a graduate degree a graduate degree in Europe. Sometime during that she was targeted as a carrier of the Nijizuishou, but was healed by Sailormoon. After receiving her degree from Cambridge in Geology, she returned to Japan, wanting to focus on her relationship to Motoki, whom she met at KO and kept a courtship up with during the years. She was often torn between her studies and ambition, and him.
After Motoki graduated from law school, Reika was pleased to marry him. Though she still goes on digs worldwide, she tries to limit her involvement to weeks, not months, and communicate as much as possible, as well as raise funds in Tokyo. Reika tries to be supportive of Motoki's career as well, oblivious to his alcoholic issues during her absences. But her interest in precious stones and minerals has caused Reika to keep a secret of her own-- she ran afoul of the African diamond trade several years ago, and is still looking over her shoulder, waiting for it to come back to haunt her. Not wanting to worry Motoki, and trying to believe that the incident is just in the past, she never mentions it, but it's never far from her mind...
Powers: Reika had a brief stint as a youma after her Nijizuishou was removed, but was healed by Sailormoon and has no real powers.

RP Sample: Reika drew her hand across her brow, sitting back on her heels and letting out a long sigh. The sun over the savanna was frying her, even underneath the hat. She paused in her work to take a long swig of water. As interesting as this all was, they hadn't discovered much of anything, and she was tiring of living without electricity and fresh, running water. There was dust in her clothes, bugs in her bed...
But it was still so beautiful. She smiled at the horizon, wondering if they'd see any interesting creatures come out at night. She was more fascinated than frightened of the local wildlife. How was it that she came to Africa just to dig, and never to go on a safari? She should have insisted on doing that as a honeymoon with Motoki!
Smiling again at the thought of her husband, she stood up with a small groan, dusting off her pants and picking her way over the scaffolding back to the small outcropping of tents. It looked so barren and lonely against the bright backdrop of the full, blue African sky. "Hopefully we can get the Sat phone to work this time," Reika mumbled to herself. Why were they paying the exorbitant costs of the subscription when the darn thing didn't work half the time? She needed to get home... This had been fruitless, and, well... "I miss you, Motoki..."
