After leaving the receiving line, Mamoru had insisted that Motoki go off on his own and either find the other senshi or mingle. He wasn’t exactly in the best of moods at the moment and he didn’t want to ruin his friend’s fun for the evening. Motoki was a very social guy and so he was certain that he would find someone to talk to even if he couldn’t find one of the senshi.
He leaned against a wall, content to stay to himself for the moment so that he could mull over everything that had just happened. Usagi was confusing him, she was definitely angry ... that much he was certain of. He had hurt her and driven her off, so much so that he was being confronted with more anger then he was use to dealing with from her. The real question was had he damaged things beyond repair or could he fix this relationship?
Mamoru loved Usagi more then anything in this world, his heart and soul both belonged to her. He would do just about anything, including giving up his life, to keep her safe and happy. The only problem with that was that he had the feeling that if he were going to be able to fix this then it was going to take more then what he was easily able to give. He had the feeling that it was going to take lowering down his shields and baring his soul completely without any precautions and he wasn’t certain that he could do that.
He hadn’t been that open with someone for as long as he could remember, in fact it had probably been before he had lost his memories all those many years ago. He wasn’t certain that he could withstand the backlash if he were to allow someone in that close and they were to reject him, especially if it were Usagi. He wasn’t even certain if he could bare his soul that completely anymore, it took a long time to build those walls around his heart and they weren’t easily crumbled not even to someone that he loved more then life itself.
Mamoru suddenly spied a familiar blonde head of hair coming toward him while he was standing there thinking and his downtrodden spirit lifted just a little. He hadn’t known whether Hiroki would make it to this party this evening, actually he hadn’t really thought he would. To see his friend here, an ally that would understand everything going on was something that lightened his mood considerably. Motoki was a good friend that he could turn to for just about anything, but Hiroki and the others were part of another life that Motoki couldn’t ever reach very easily.
He waited until Hiroki had reached him before saying, “I didn’t expect to see you here tonight, but perhaps I should have ...”

It hadn’t taken more than a couple minutes to track down his Prince. He found him against a wall, staring off into space. While he hadn’t been able to speak with Mamoru much over the past few days, he had heard about the break-up through the grapevine at work. Though there were many details he was sure had been left out, the message was loud and clear. He would have to investigate this further, but tonight was not the night. He had some information for Mamoru which was far more important than the Prince’s relationship status. Upon reaching Mamoru, he swept his arm in front of him and bowed. “My Prince.”
He smiled that sly smile he always carried, no matter his mood. “It is by pure luck that I’m attending this evening. And apparently things are only getting better, sire. I have some rather interesting news concerning my brothers.”

Mamoru waved off the bow and muttered, “Mamoru is just fine you know ...”
He briefly tried to figure out what Hiroki meant by it being pure luck that he was attending, but deciphering his next words soon became far more important. News about the other Shitennou was something he was very much interested in hearing and he quickly straightened away from the wall.
Mamoru knew that he had mentioned Nathaniel’s presence to Hiroki the day he had awoken. However, he hadn’t spoken to Hiroki in the last few days so he hadn’t gotten the chance to mention Khalid and Zacharie’s presence to him, much less that he was actually living with Zacharie in order to keep an eye on him. The fact that Hiroki was mentioning his brothers instead of just one of his brothers meant that there was a high chance that he had at least seen more then one of them, which was far more then Mamoru had done at this point
“What about them? Have you seen them in the last few days? I haven’t gotten the chance to find Nathaniel, much less speak with him yet.”

“Old habits, My Pr—erm, Mamoru.” Things were different now, and he was permitted to be more ‘informal’ around the Prince in public. He would have to remember that.
Hiroki nodded. “Yes, I’ve seen two for sure just this evening. Nathaniel is here, and after a short conversation with him, there is no doubt in my mind as to who he truly is.” He chuckled to himself. That man had Nephrite written all over him. His personality hadn’t changed at all.
Speaking of personalities… “The other, I believe may be Kunzite. Khalid ibn Maleec. He introduced himself to Nathaniel and me. He’s till just as stone-faced and uptight as he always was.” Hiroki rolled his eyes at that. Rather than linger on it, he moved on.
“Have you heard of this Khalid fellow? I still have no idea who Zoisite may be. I really haven’t been looking, to be honest. The other two sort of just fell into my lap.”

Mamoru grinned and shook his head when Hiroki almost called him ‘My Prince’ again. It would probably take a while before he was comfortable with being ‘informal’ around him while others were around, but hopefully he would eventually get use to it.
He listened quietly while Hiroki informed him of both Nathaniel and Khalid’s presence, grinning just a little at the description he gave about Khalid’s personality. It amused him just a little to think of how Kunzite would have responded to those words if he had been here, but at Hiroki’s next question he grew serious again.
Mamoru leaned back against the wall once more before thoughtfully saying, “I haven’t met him or even seen this Khalid yet, but I have heard his name. Us...” His expression darkened just a bit as he remembered his earlier ‘lesson’ that Usagi didn’t wanted formalities to be observed between them as he continued, “The queen sent Ami to visit me a few nights ago, in the interest of keeping a professional working relationship between us regarding you guys. She told me that they suspected Khalid ibn Maleec of being Kunzite and if you think so as well then he probably is. As for Zoisite, I think I might know who he is as well. I met a guy by the name of Zacharie Babineaux while I was searching for a new home. We ended up sharing an apartment just so that I could keep an eye on him. I’m fairly certain that he is indeed Zoisite, remind me to introduce you to him sometime soon.”

Hiroki furrowed his brows at Mamoru’s quick change from what should have been ‘Usagi’ to ‘the queen.’ Something was very wrong if he couldn’t even call his ex-fiancée by her first name. His eyes narrowed upon learning that the two were even keeping a ‘working relationship’ because of them. As far as he was concerned, what went on with Mamoru and the other Shitennou was none of this ‘queen’s’ business. His temper began to flare, until the rational side kicked in and told him that now was not the place to start something. Instead, he filed it all away to be discussed later as he listened to the rest of what Mamoru was sharing.
He softly repeated the name of the fourth man. “Zacharie Babineaux… Why does that sound familiar?” Shaking off the odd feeling, he came to a small realization and promptly began to laugh. “Why am I not surprised that this possible Zoisite was so quick to move in with you? I’d love to meet him, if for nothing else than to make fun of his pansy ass.”

Mamoru was far too caught up in his own frustration over his relationship to notice that Hiroki wasn’t exactly pleased with what he was hearing. He shrugged when Hiroki repeated Zacharie’s name before saying, “I don’t really know all that much about him yet, other then that he has trouble with our language. I asked what he did for a living when I first met him, but he wouldn’t say.”
He paused a moment before adding, “I haven’t actually spent much time with him in the last two days. The day after met him I went to visit a friend and ended up ... well I was just busy and yesterday wasn’t that great of a day either.”
Mamoru wasn’t about to stand here and admit to drinking too much the day before and ending up in jail because he got hit on by a college girl and then got into a fight with her boyfriend. He would really like to pretend it had never happened. He had made a point of avoiding reading the papers both yesterday and today simply because he hadn’t wanted to see whatever kind of a story they had come up with. If he was lucky Hiroki hadn’t seen them either.
“He didn’t exactly jump at the chance to move in with me Hiroki. I had to convince him that I wasn’t hitting on him first. As for making fun of him, you will try to be a little pleasant won’t you? We don’t want to drive him away.”

Hiroki only pressed further. “So you’re moving in with this guy who may or may not be Zoisite, he doesn’t speak Japanese very well, and you have no idea what he does for a living…” He chuckled. “That’s just rich!”
He quirked an eyebrow at Mamoru’s next comment. “Ended up where, sire? It had better not have been somewhere that you would have needed my assistance.” He was Endy-Mamoru! Mamoru Mamoru Mamoru! Why couldn’t he get that through his head? Anyways, he was Mamoru’s only awakened guard at the moment, and the last thing Hiroki needed was for his Prince to get himself into a situation with no protection. “You should have called me.”
His serious demeanor turned back into a more humorous one when Mamoru admitted that he had to talk Zacharie into moving in with him. He just couldn’t help himself. “Well of course you had to work to get him to agree. You’re so not his type!”

Mamoru shrugged before saying, “If nothing else I get my own personal fashion advisor that will probably disapprove of every article of clothing that I own and the rent becomes that much cheaper.”
He glared at Hiroki briefly, somewhat annoyed that he wasn’t just dropping the topic about the jail. After a moment though he relaxed, his annoyance lightening into amusement at the whole situation. If he told Hiroki where he had been the other man was bound to tease him unmercifully about it, but in the end he would understand what had put him there in the first place. He grinned slyly and lightly replied, “I doubt very much that you would have wanted to be there. That holding cell smelled foul and the company wasn't terribly pleasant either. Besides, you wouldn’t have been able to handle those officers as efficiently as the guy I did call was able to do. You would have probably gotten yourself arrested right alongside me and then where would I have been?”
Mamoru rose an eyebrow at Hiroki’s words and said mock seriously, “I certainly hope that I’m not his type, otherwise things might get a little difficult. I do have to live with the man you know. It wouldn’t do at all for him to develop some sort of infatuation with me. That never once occurred to me, thank you ... what would I do without you.”

Hiroki glanced around him before hissing out “YOU got arrested??” His eyes widened in shock at first before they squeezed shut and he doubled over in laughter. It took him a couple moments to regain some semblance of composure. He wiped a mock tear away as he straightened back up. “I’m sorry man, I just didn’t think you had it in you.” He chuckled a bit more before agreeing with Mamoru in the end. “Perhaps it is best you didn’t call me after all. We’d probably still be there.”
He reached up and gave Mamou’s shoulder a hard pat. “You’d be his new little pet, that’s what you’d be doing without me. You’re welcome.” He moved to lean against the wall next to Mamoru and glanced around the room again, taking note of where Nathaniel and Khalid were. He definitely wanted to keep an eye on those two, especially Nathaniel. Even with the friendly barbs shared between the two, something about him just seemed off.
Casually, he brought the subject back up with Mamoru again. “Now that I think of it, our Nephrite may be closer than we realize.” His lips curled back into a devilish grin. “He misses me.”

Mamoru glanced around in annoyance, making certain no one had heard Hiroki’s hissed out comments. Confident that his earlier surliness had continued to keep people at a respectable distance, he turned back to his friend and growled, “Yes I got arrested and I’d rather the whole room didn’t hear about it. There might actually be some people here that choose not to read the tabloids, my reputation might still be in tack with them.” When Hiroki doubled over in laughter Mamoru shot him another glare before relaxing yet again and drily saying, “It wasn’t really one of my better judgements to try and drown away my troubles for the evening.”
He grinned at Hiroki’s response and muttered, “You never change ...” Falling silent, he too glanced around the room. His gaze automatically sought out Usagi, almost like a moth to a flame. Mamoru couldn’t help watching her across the room chatting happily with her other guests, that is until Hiroki spoke up once more.
Mamoru smirked over at his companion, amusement once more lightening his expression. “I’m sure it’s the constant harassment over his hair that he misses the most.” He turned back to study the room once more, this time searching for Nathaniel. Mamoru had only seen him once in this lifetime, but it wasn’t hard to spot him in the crowd. He hoped that Hiroki was correct in thinking that Nephrite might be close to remembering who he was. It would mean that yet another of his friends would be released from the prisons of their stones, to be free once more to live their lives as they should have been able to do all along.
After a moment he added, "We’ll have to keep an eye on him I suppose. I’d hate for him to cause the kind of trouble you caused upon awakening. I really don’t need to be thrown from another shrine, my dignity can only suffer so much.”

Hiroki chuckled. “Then we’ll say that you showed good judgment when you decided not to call me.”
He gave a mock bow at Mamoru’s next remark. “I would hate to disappoint, sire.”
Keeping his eyes on the crowd, his gaze passed over guest after guest. He thought he caught a glimpse of a certain raven-haired woman, but brushed it off as whoever it was disappeared just as quickly as she’d appeared.
He looked over at Mamoru, his eyes narrowed. “It’s not my fault that harridan went batshit crazy on me!” His face lightened quickly though. “Besides, flashy entrances aren’t Neph’s style.”
Pushing himself off the wall, he turned to face his prince directly. “I’ll try to keep an eye on him. If you need me, I’ll be near the bar.” That mischievous grin was back. “Don’t come to me, I’ll come to you. We all know you’ve got bad luck with bars…”
He offered another bow and a quick “Sire” before turning on his heel and heading back to his new ‘post’.
