The meeting had gone... only slightly worse than she'd imagined, really, but at least it had left the majority of them feeling somewhat closer than they had before. Stifling her anger at Minako, Rei waited about outside the Queen's quarters for Makoto to show up. She'd taken off a little earlier with the intent on speaking to Lucan about something only to change her mind halfway to the man's office. No, Makoto needed to be spoken to first, it was only right... especially with the bomb-shell that Ami had dropped.
So Rei waited, eyes trained on the door until it opened and the familiar brunette emerged. "Mako-chan, can we talk?"

Makoto said her goodbyes to Ami, Luna & Usagi and headed for the door. She softly closed it behind her and as she turned to leave the office she heard a familiar voice. She looked in the direction that it had come from and was met with a purple-eyed gaze.
Offering a small smile, she nodded. “Of course. I kind of had a feeling you’d want to.”

"I'll walk you out?" Rei made a gesture down the hall, towards the back entrance that they normally took to leave the grounds without much notice. She knew as well as the others that Makoto had work that day, and she wasn't about to hold her up. When they'd begun their journey down the corridor, Rei clasped her hands behind her back and opened with the words she'd been considering since she'd seen the clothes in the other woman's bag. It really wasn't hard to put two and two together.
"I realize that you like him," Rei said slowly, "And it isn't my business whom you date or spend your affections on, nor would I ever presume to tell you what to do. ... but please be careful. I don't believe that he's a danger the way he is now, or I wouldn't be associating with him either, yet we have to remember that whatever they are now it doesn't absolve them of what they have done. I know we're uncertain as to who he is.... but I don't think our guesses are wrong."

Makoto nodded and slung her bag over her shoulder before moving along the hallway with Rei. She’d barely taken two steps before nearly taking a faceplant at the first thing Rei said. Well that was a rather sweeping observation…
“Rei-chan…” Oh, where to start? She sighed. “Look, what happened between me and him the other day… It wasn’t like that, you know. And I can’t say that I like him. I barely know him. In this life, at least. Hell, I barely recall knowing him in my past life.” She paused, gathering her thoughts before continuing. “Though I suppose you’ve gathered that I’ve spoken with him more recently… He refused to let me leave without giving him a way to contact me. So I gave him my e-mail, and he asked me to dinner. At the time, my curiosity got the best of me. I knew there was something there, and I wanted to flesh it out. If I’d have known then what I know now…”
“You know I’m going to be careful. But as we all seemed to agree, we need to keep an eye on these guys. I may as well keep the plans I have with him this evening. At least now I know exactly what to watch out for.”

"I know what happened in the alley," Rei replied without bothering to gloss it over. She glanced at her friend; Makoto was the one of them who was most-liable to "love at first sight" scenarios. Well, Usagi and Minako had always been right there with her, but somehow it was Makoto that stood the most prominent when that thought came to play. She shook her head, "I'm just concerned, Mako-chan. I realize that you know what you're doing... you have more experience in these matters than, well, myself. But I'd rather know that you're playing it safe than assume so."

She raised an eyebrow. “I never mentioned an alley, but I suppose that must be something you learned while you were with Nathaniel. Even still, I’m not sure what you think happened. We kissed, I already admitted to that. Did he tell you that there was more than that? Because I assure you, there was not.”
Makoto smirked. “I bet he neglected to mention that I also punched him square in the jaw, too.”

Rei sighed and shook her head, "He didn't tell me per say. I saw it. I also saw... some other thoughts he has surrounding you." Rei glanced at her friend in a meaningful manner and opened the back door for her, waiting for her friend to proceed her.
"You can handle yourself as well as any of us, Makoto, you know that I'm not saying you can't."

Makoto lowered her head as she exited through the door that Rei held open for her, trying to hide a slight flush that had risen to her cheeks. Though it was a bit rhetorical, she couldn’t help but ask. “Other thoughts?”
She quickly continued, “I know you’re not saying that Rei-chan.” Stopping on the sidewalk, she turned to face her friend. “Look, I promised you before that I would be careful, and I fully intend to keep that promise.”
Another thought fluttered into her mind… her first and second attacks as a Senshi were aimed at him, and had killed him. “Rei, is there…anything I should watch for? I wasn’t around for most of your battles against him, so I have no idea what he’d be capable of. Was there anything else that you ‘saw’ that I should know about before meeting with him again?”

Rei stopped with her, happy for the sunshine pouring down from overhead for it warmed the day considerably. "... He's smooth and something of a manipulator, judging from what we got to see of him before his... demise." The priestess shook her head, wrapping her arms about herself, "He doesn't seem to have lost much of that charm, from what I've seen of him. Very much convinced in destiny and the supernatural and can probably use talk of that to his advantage."

Makoto’s lips turned to a slight pout at that. “A manipulator, huh?” She rolled her eyes and chuckled. “Wouldn’t be the first time I dealt with a guy like that…”
“So he still talks to those damned stars, does he?” The words were barely out before her eyes went wide at what she’d said. Her hands flew to cover her mouth. A muffled “ohmygod” escaped from behind her fingers.

It really wasn't that surprising, all considered--at least not after that morning. Rei's lips dipped into a frown and she shook her head. "It would seem so," Was her response, rather than remarking on her friend's surprise. Lifting one hand to her temple, the woman rubbed slow circles on it. Now she was the one getting headaches. "At least, I would make a good pass at it though he hasn't said as much in so clear of terms. Quite spiritually apt, though. Call my com if you have any problem, and if necessary I can give you an excuse to leave." Rei wasn't one that usually encouraged lying, but... in this case it could be necessary. She thought about asking if Makoto wanted her to wait up for her... and then realized that she was going to do so regardless of the answer.

Rei’s reaction was ever so calm, as usual. In this case it was a good thing, and put Makoto at ease with her memory slip. She lowered her hands and gave a slight frown. “I suppose that’s going to be happening a lot more often… All these years I prayed for my memories, and now that it seems I’m getting them, I’m not so sure I want them after all.” She let a small sigh.
“I will definitely call you, if anything just to let you know that things are OK. I’ll see if I can make a slip to the restroom at some point in the evening.” She offered a smile and placed a hand on her sister’s shoulder. “In the meantime, I want YOU to get some rest. And if you need anything, you call me too. You know my sisters come first.”

Rei smiled faintly and nodded. "Alright. It'll be on me," she confirmed again and tried not to feel apprehensive over this. Makoto knew what she was doing. Unlike Makoto, however, Rei had never wanted these memories... The Priestess straightened her shoulders and smiled a little more broadly, "Ok. I'd better not keep you from work much longer. I prefer you with you head attached."

Makoto smiled in return. "Don't worry. Shimara's not that bad. She's been great and really understanding when it comes to my palace duties. Anyways, today's my last day at Lumiere for a week or so. So I'll be around a lot more often." She laughed. "When I say around, I mean in the kitchen."
She gave her friend a quick hug and another reassuring smile. "I'll talk to you later on." Turning, she headed for her car. Thoughts and memories and who knows what else floating through her mind, one thing resonated. It was going to be an interesting evening.
