The year is 2012, though most people now refer to it as NE 1, the first year of New Earth.
Crystal Tokyo has just been established and preparations for the royal wedding are underway. Peace has just recently been reestablished, and it is the desperate hope of the Senshi that this peace can be maintained until after the wedding. Everyone is busy getting ready for the wedding, and Queen Serenity and the soon to be King Endymion both seem to move swiftly between excitement and nerves.
The four traditional palaces of the divisions of the Heavenly Kingdom of Earth have been rebuilt, but for now they stand mostly empty with small staffs and world leaders helping to maintain the peace which the Senshi have so recently bought. However, the fact that their rightful leaders, the Shitennou, are not leading their divisions weighs heavily on Endymion's mind and quietly plagues the hearts of the Inner Senshi.
Additionally, Africa and South America are demanding their own palaces and representatives to the world court. Causing diplomatic difficulties.
Refuges of the recently defeated Old Earth group are finding themselves in a difficult place as they try to assimilate into the society of New Earth. While most people from what is now known as Middle Earth have accepted the changes, there are some voices who council caution, being worried what a world wide monarchy will mean for the freedoms of earth and the diverse cultures of the planet. Some voices offer pure dissent while others simply want to make sure that there are checks and balances on the new government.
The worse offenders from Old Earth have been exiled. Others are serving lighter sentences having shown a willingness to be a part of this new world.
The members of the Old Earth had started out as a small group who had found and embraced the history of Earth from the time of the Silver Millennium. However, their obsession had been the foot hold that Chaos needed, and while Metallica and Beryl were now far beyond the reach of Chaos, it was not difficult for Chaos to sow the seed of discontent among these individuals, causing them to become more and more insular. Eventually, their leaders became suspicious of the Senshi and began to fight against them as they also tried to create coups to overthrow the governments of Middle Earth and restore Earth to its former glory.
