"Yes, that is what you meant," Usagi said calmly. For some reason it was nice to be on the other end, to watch someone else get emotional about this subject. It was a strange, rare place for her to be. "If you want me to be now what I "can be," then it is not the state of being I am currently am, but your personal interpretation of what it is possible for me to be-- therefore, not my present state. Yes, that is desiring that I change. I do believe you care about me Luna, I do believe you want me to change and grow because you think that is what is best for me and many times you're right. But just admit it, it means you want to change something about what I am right now, so that 'I can be all that I can be.'"
Luna's next words just made her cross. She was going from stressed out, sad, distressed, relieved, numb, to just plain irritated. Why did everyone assume they all about what she did and did not know, feel, or should know or feel. How did Luna get by telling her that she wanted Usagi to open up to her and then minutes later state that Usagi 'knew perfectly well' that her friends were not turning away from her. "However you want to put it, Luna, they are pursuing their own lives right now and not the friendship, it has taken a lower priority, not that it's wrong, it just has. Why not admit the obvious? Where you spend your time is where your priorities lie. And I believe you have it backward. The bond we share includes duty as well as friendship. But the bond we share goes beyond mere duty to friendship, not the other way around. As for them needing me... Right now they need me to recognize that they are more than their duties, they are their own persons, with their own dreams and desires, and their own individual lives to live and contributions to make, and they need me to recognize that their entire existance does not revolve around me. They need my support, and my belief that they will prevail, despite any minor setbacks, that they have something incredible to give to the world that doesn't have anything to do with being a sailor senshi..."
Usagi stared at the floor as she spoke, fixating on one spot in order to avoid tearing up again. As she talked about her friends, the edge to her voice slowly blunted away into nothingness. She loved her friends; she couldn't even keep the frustration in her voice when she spoke about them. Shaking her head, she took a few steps forward to open the door for Hikari and the make-up artist. "I only wish some of them could do the same for me..." she muttered, more to herself than Luna.

Luna continued to glare at Usagi. She refused to sit here an argue over whether or not she wanted Usagi to change. She supposed when it got right down to it she did want her to change, but it was her heart that she had actually been talking about. Luna didn’t want to lose the loving girl that she had grown to care about a great deal. Whether or not Usagi became more mature was not really the question, after all she had already accomplished everything Luna had wanted for her. In fact, she had accomplished much more then she could have ever hoped for. It was who Usagi was at the core of her being that Luna didn’t want to change, she simply wasn’t certain how to go about explaining that to Usagi. At any rate, arguing like this wasn’t getting anything done, all Luna had done at this point was to upset her more then she had been before Mamoru had left. That wasn’t what she had intended to do.
She listened quietly as Usagi continued on about the senshi, her tail still twitching in irritation. Luna really couldn’t understand where all of this was coming from. Usagi hadn’t seemed upset before today, a little stressed but that had been expected. She knew that she had missed the other girls, but for her to believe that the friendship had been put on a back burner while they concentrated on their careers.
Luna was at a loss as to what to say. She knew very well that it was the senshi’s duty to always remain by their princess. However, she also knew that these particular senshi didn’t grow up in the circumstances they were first meant to. They didn’t grow up constantly being told that it was an honor to be a senshi and that they should be proud, nor did they grow up already knowing that their lives had been planned out for them from the time they were born. These girls had grown up in the Middle Earth where dreams and desires came first. They hadn’t even known they were senshi until they were teenagers, a time that they had already begun to dream of what they wanted to be. Usagi had done the right thing telling them all to go out and live their lives, it was the only fair thing to have done. However, had it come at her own personal sacrifices once again?
The small black cat watched her charge cross the rom and open the door for Hikari and the make-up artist. The muttered comment was almost too soft for even her sharp hearing, but Luna did catch it and it made her feel even more confused. Luna really wasn’t certain how to make Usagi feel better, but she was becoming concerned that she was starting to withdraw from everyone.
Although the world knew about the senshi and some even knew about little talking cats, Luna still tended to keep silent around most people. She simply wasn’t use to speaking up around anyone other then the ones that had always shared the secret. Ordinarily she probably would have stayed silent until Hikari and the make-up artist had left. However, there really wasn’t a lot of time these days to simply talk to Usagi and Luna wanted to finish her conversation, besides it was high time the people of this palace learned to respect and view her as something more then a pet. She was the Queen’s advisor and right now she needed to advise.
Therefore, ignoring the fact that she might very well startle the other women, Luna once again padded over to Usagi’s side and said, “Usagi you do give something incredible to the world, something more then just being its queen or even Sailor Moon. You are the most selfless person that I know and that has nothing to do with who you were meant to be, it is just who you are.”

Usagi sat down in front of the vanity in the room as the make-up artist, who introduced herself in English as Sandy Linter. From her American accent and tone of some self-importance, Usagi was sure that she must have been famous in her field, some elite celebrity stylist or something. It made Usagi wonder how Hikari-san did it, always finding the best to fill in any request or need that she might dream up.
"Good evening, Ms. Linter," Usagi replied in English, sitting tall as she was draped with something similar to the shampoo capes they used at the salon, so none of he makeup would get on the dress. She blinked at Luna in surprise; it was atypical for the feline to speak in the presence of others, even more so about a personal conversation. This must be really important for her...
Any lingering resentment on Usagi's part faded with Luna's words. Her stormy expression slowly melted into a smile, and she patted her lap, hoping Luna would jump up and sit there; it was too far to reach down to pet her.
"Your cat talks?!" The make-up artist exclaimed, dropping her bottle of foundation. Luckily, it hadn't been opened.
"Yes... It's hard to explain," Usagi responded in English. "But, she's more than my cat, she's one of my advisors..." Hikari-san, at least, did not look too shocked, she had never been around Luna when she spoke, but Usagi knew that she was aware that Luna was not a normal cat.
"She has your same moon insignia," Sandy commented, testing the airbrush by spraying a spot of foundation on her hand, and then squinted at Usagi's forehead. "I'll have to be sure not to cover that up."
"Yes, she does, and I do not think you could even if you tried," Usagi responded, and then reverted back to Japanese again to talk to Luna, hoping that Sandy would get the hint and not interrupt the conversation again. "Thank you.... I'll take your word for it, Luna... I just don't know sometimes. Whatever it is that you see in me, I don't..." She paused, waiting until Sandy was finished applying moisturizer to her face. "And, for the senshi... Luna, it's more than just than I want them to be happy," she tried to explain. Usagi wasn't irritated or arguing anymore, finally settling into just talking. "This may be a monarchy, but one where liberty and equality are supposed to be the values by which we govern. And that has to start from the top. I can't dictate to anyone what their duties are, they have to decide for themselves if they want to be a part of this, and if they do, how much they want to."

Luna glanced irritably at the make-up artist, but she decided not to comment. After all it really wasn’t the woman’s fault that she had been startled, though she was glad that Hikari didn’t seem particularly fazed. She leaped up into Usagi’s lap, settling down so that she wouldn’t interfere in Sandy’s work. Deciding to not say anything at all to Sandy, Luna more or less ignored her keeping her concentration on listening to what Usagi was saying.
Luna was still faintly worried at the self-doubt that she heard from Usagi, but she was glad to see that she had calmed down sufficiently enough to not be argumentative anymore. She would still have to talk to the other senshi about this, after all they might be able to at the very least cheer Usagi up better then she herself could. However, she would in no way repeat the things that Usagi had said to her. Those were things that had been said between the two of them and she would in no way want to break that confidence. She cared far too much for Usagi to do anything like that.
Luna didn’t particularly worry about Hikari overhearing her conversation, simply because she believed the woman wouldn’t repeat anything she might have overheard. She seemed rather good at her job and so Luna had faith that what she said wouldn’t go anywhere else. As for Sandy, well Luna figured if the make-up artist knew any Japanese then she probably would have attempted to introduce herself in the language. At least she hoped that she wouldn’t be able to understand much of what was being said.
“I believe I understand what you are trying to say Usagi. You don’t want them to feel as if they have to be here because it was their duty as your senshi, instead being able to make their own decisions in life. I can see why that would be a good thing, as you said liberty and equality must start at the top. Still, it is important that you know whether they are here or not they all care a great deal about you. Forgetting their duty as senshi for a moment, as just your friends they would have wanted to know how you were feeling. I’m not trying to say that you have to give up your own private thoughts and feelings Usagi, if you don’t feel like sharing then you don’t have to. Its just that, its not healthy to bottle up all of the stress you’ve been under and try to handle it on your own.

Usagi began to gently rub Luna behind the ears, petting her in what she knew was the feline's favorite spots. She, too, was grateful that Sandy and Hikari weren't interrupting. She was sure that Hikari-san had something important or other to tell her, but Usagi appreciated that she was waiting. If that was anything that she knew from her time on the job, it was that there was always something important going on.
"I know they care about me and my feelings... But I don't want to interrupt or bother them, sometimes. And what happened today-- I didn't want to have to explain myself to anyone, ask to be sneaked out, have to tell anybody anything at all. Before all this, I could go out shopping whenever I pleased, and I didn't have to inform someone of where I was going, what I was doing, why I needed to be going there... It was more than needing a break, I needed a sense of personal freedom... I thought it wouldn't hurt if no one found out." Usagi sighed, closing her eyes and tilting her head up as she was airbrushed over with the foundation.
"I won't do it again, Luna, I know better. And you're right I can't keep it all bottled up. But I worry about interrupting their lives or burdening them with my silly problems. And if I do share my feelings with them, I am afraid it will put pressure on them. I suppose in the interim while I'm trying to get all of this figured out, I'll just confide in you and Mamo-chan." She closed her eyes again as powder was applied to her face, hoping that after this it didn't look like she was wearing a mask of make-up. "I kind of want to stand back... I want to see what they choose, where they go."

Luna purred softly as Usagi began petting her, enjoying these few moments. It did seem that lately even she hadn’t been able to spend as much time with Usagi as she use to. She knew that it was simply because things had been so hectic as of late, but she really needed to make certain that Usagi didn’t spend all her time working. There needed to be a balance, even when it was all so new. There simply had to be time for relaxation and fun. She knew that she couldn’t do anything about the personal freedom, it simply wasn’t safe to go out just on a whim anymore.
She sighed softly and murmured, “Things have changed Usagi, there isn’t anything to be done about that. I doubt it will ever be the same again, but I do understand what you are feeling. It is hard, I know it is.”
Luna fell silent, as Usagi spoke up again. She was still vagually uneasy with this notion that Usagi needed to let the senshi choose what they wanted and not being a burden on them. She really hadn’t been aware of how much the girls had seemingly lost in their friendship. They did seem to be drifting somewhat apart, at least from Usagi’s point of view. When it came down to it, Luna still believed that nothing had changed and that things would work out. However, on the surface everyone did seem to be going their own way and doing their own things. She sighed once again and decided to be grateful that at least Usagi planned on confiding in her and Mamoru from now on. That was something, she would need to figure out what to do about the senshi though. That was a bond that really shouldn’t be broken and she couldn’t afford to let things remain as they were for long.
She put aside her concerns for now and turned her gaze back up to Usagi. She watched Sandy for a moment as the woman finished the last touches to Usagi’s make up. She certain did seem to know what she was doing and for that Luna was glad. Turning her attention back to Usagi, she said, “Things will work out Usagi, you will see. As long as I know you are willing to confide in someone then I will be happy, but promise me that if the senshi do come to you don’t turn them away. Don’t make them go back to their careers just because you think it will be best for them.”

"That's what I said to Mamo-chan; that it's not going to settle down or change. We've set history in motion; we can't go back now." She paused, it was impossible to speak when her lips were being painted over and the mascara wand was coming neigh. She just continued to pet Luna, enjoying hearing her purr. It had been too long since doing that, too.
As soon as Sandy had moved onto her eyeliner, Usagi had to giggle a little at Luna's request. "Of course I won't turn them away if they come back to me; I'd be overjoyed! It just has to be their decision and I don't want to unduly influence them in any way. So you won't tell them anything I said, right?" She requested, her voice and eyes pleading, as Sandy also swept off the protective cape and helped fix on her jewelry. "It might make them feel guilty, and I don't want to guilt-trip anyone into their duties, either. Or it might just make Rei-chan more angry with me and I'm sure she's angry enough," Usagi said with another small laugh.
Sandy chose this moment to clear her throat, and Usagi looked up at the woman. "Hai-- I mean, yes, Ms. Linter?" She said, correcting herself and reverting to English.
"You're all finished," the woman beamed. "How do you like it?" She gestured to the mirror.
Usagi looked ahead and almost didn't recognize herself. It was amazing how just a little make-up, applied different, could change her entire appearance. She had smoky eyes, dark lips, and the blush was applied to make her high cheek-bones stand out. Usagi could see now why Sandy was obviously at the top of her profession.
"I look like a movie star," she giggled, and Sandy laughed.
"Well, that's who I usually work for." She began to pack up her things, while Usagi was transfixed with her reflection for a little bit longer. The Harry Winston necklace felt heavy around her neck, but she did feel like a queen.
"Luna, too bad Mamo-chan didn't stick around to see me like this," she joked, turning her face from side to side, the large diamonds flashing in the light. "C'mon, time to go." She waited until Luna got off her lap, not wanting to stand up and knock the poor cat to the floor. "We're meeting the delegation in the Rose Quartz room and taking a few pictures for the press--" A few pictures? More like five hundred, probably. "--And then there is a small formal dinner, and some talking... Tomorrow is when we show them around Tokyo and get some real work done. And yes I know I am still talking in English but I should get into it now because that is what I will speak to them once we get there." As much as she had hated the fluency requirement for English when she attended ICU (Usagi had pulled many an all-nighter in order to pass those classes), being fluent in English had been a huge help in her job as Queen. Though the United Kingdom and America were no longer the centers of power in the world, English was still the second-most spoken language in the world, second only to Mandarin, which was the most spoken just because of the large population growth in China. English was still the lingua franca for the world, and especially diplomacy.

“Still even if it doesn’t settle down or change, you will get use to things as they are now, adapt I guess you could say.” She glanced up at Usagi and added, “Things will become easier in time, at least easier to handle ...”
She felt somewhat happier when Usagi promised not to turn the senshi away and even giggled a bit. She at least seemed more cheerful then she had earlier and for that Luna was very happy. Giving Usagi a very solemn look, Luna replied, “I won’t say a word Usagi, I wouldn’t betray your trust like that.”
Luna glanced over at Sandy when the woman cleared her throat and then said that she had finished with her work. Turning to inspect Usagi, Luna decided that Sandy was definitely worth the pay she was probably getting. Usagi had always been a lovely girl, but Sandy had managed her into a very lovely woman ... an image befitting a queen. She glanced over at Sandy once again and murmured, “You did very well ...”, before turning her full attention back on Usagi.
She obediently leaped to the floor before saying, “I am certain that Mamoru would have regretted not staying could he see you now.” Luna paused a moment before adding thoughtfully, “If you had really wished for him to remain you could have asked him, I’m sure he wouldn’t have minded. He probably would have thought about it himself, but he seemed to be distracted about something or other perhaps there is something bothering him as well.”
Whenever she heard Usagi speaking in English, Luna was always immensely proud. She remembered quite clearly all the times Usagi had trouble during her high school with the language. Luna nodded in understanding and glancing back up to Usagi, Luna replied, “Just try not to let them keep you up all night long. If you don’t get enough sleep you are going to get sick Usagi and no one would like that, especially not these delegates.”

"I'll get used to some of it, but I'm not ever sure I'll like it. I just don't know. I'll take it day by day," Usagi said, letting out a heavy sigh.
"Thank you, Luna. I just wanted to make sure. I trust you." She gave the cat one more scratch behind the ear, trying not to laugh at the expression on Sandy's face as Luna addressed her. Poor woman.
"Er-- thank you," the woman managed to get out in response to Luna.
"Don't worry, we all know it's a lot to take in, a talking cat," Usagi reassured Sandy. "She is right, you did a very good job. Maybe I will have you do my make-up for the wedding," she smiled, standing up and walking with Luna to the door.
"I would have asked him! But he went out so quickly..." she frowned, listening to Luna's take on the matter. "I was so self-focused at the time I didn't think there was anything the matter with him, besides his being cross at me for pulling that stunt this afternoon. Maybe I should send someone to ask him to come with me... I do want to make sure all is well with him too. I didn't get a chance to ask him about his day. There's still some time." She made to open the door and summon a servant, but Hikari beat her to it, instructing one of the maids to find the king and ask him if he wished to join the queen and the delegation that evening.
Usagi felt slightly uncomfortable as the maid looked over at her, smiled, and then departed. The staff here sure seem nosy...
"Is it just me, Luna, but are they a little bit too interested in us at times?"

Luna doubted very much that Usagi would ever grow to like it, but she would be better able to handle it and that was the important thing. She purred reassuringly once more under that last scratch behind her ear, as she watched the amusing expression on Sandy’s face and wondered if perhaps she shouldn’t have spoken to her again. Still, she did want people to acknowledge that she was more then a cat and to do that she needed to speak to them even if they were shocked in the process.
She followed Usagi to the door and once again admired Hikari’s skills at knowing exactly what Usagi wanted or needed without being asked. She did notice the maid’s odd behavior as she smiled at Usagi before heading off to find Mamoru. Almost as if the girl knew something that Usagi didn’t, but Luna just shook it off and said, “It’s probably just that this is new to them as well. Its not often they get to be so close to a queen is it?”

Post by Chiba Mamoru on Dec 23, 2008 17:12:52 GMT -5
Mamoru had returned to his study where he was attempting to work on a few things that he had neglected long enough. However, his mind kept returning to that rumor that Ami had told him was circulating the palace. It bothered him much more then he had let on, mostly because he wasn’t certain how Usagi would take it. He knew that no matter how much he hoped otherwise, Usagi was bound to hear about it.
It was then that he was interrupted from his thoughts by the very thing he didn’t wish to see at the moment, one of the palace maids. He couldn’t help glaring harshly at the girl for a moment before sighing and asking, “Is there anything I can do for you?”
The girl had indeed been thinking about the illicit romance between the king and Lady Mercury, a romance that her friend had told her about mere moments before she had been sent on this errand for the queen. She had just been thinking that it was horrible that the king could do something like that to the queen, right under her own nose too. However, all thoughts of anything flew from her mind at the intimidating glare that she received from the king. She swallowed nervously and stuttered, “The ... the um, well ...” At the king’s deepening glare of annoyance, the girl quickly straightened herself and said, “The queen wanted to know if you would like to join her and the delegation this evening.”
Mamoru shook his head and said, “Thank you then ...” He quickly dismissed the girl, feeling somewhat sorry that he had seemingly scared the poor maid as she vacated the room as quickly as she could. It probably wouldn’t help his reputation much, but he couldn’t help feeling annoyed at them. This entire mess was caused simply because one young servant girl couldn’t keep her mouth shut.
He quickly got ready for the evening before retracing his steps back to Usagi’s dressing room. He probably should have thought about joining her before. After all he knew that it would have probably made the prospect that much easier for her. It was just that he had still been distracted by that rumor that it hadn’t even occurred to him.
Mamoru decided it wouldn’t be a very proper thing to just walk into the dressing rooms this time and so he knocked at the doors. Although he was once again presented with another maid, Mamoru was able to keep himself better composed without giving away any of his irritation.
He stepped inside and immediately smiled appreciatively the moment he laid eyes on Usagi. Ignoring everyone else in the room, Mamoru murmured, “Usako, you do look lovely this evening ... and of course I’d love to join you and the delegates.”
Actually he’d much prefer not to have the delegates or anyone else tag along, but people couldn’t always get everything they wished for. It wouldn’t be too much longer until the wedding and then he could have her to himself for at least a little while with no interruptions.

"Maybe," Usagi said skeptically. "You would think if that was it, they'd be a bit more..." She didn't want to say servile, that would sound wrong. Usagi didn't expect her staff to be docile, adoring creatures, but if the girl was truly just excited to be around her, it seemed that she would have stammered or been flustered or just visibly excited. A creepy smile? "Seemed more like she knew something that I didn't. Oh well. Excuse me for a moment, Luna."
She turned to Hikari-san and listened with a frown at the latest snag in seating arrangements for the reception. It had long been her dream to be a bride, but she never imagined some of the stress that would come with it!
"First you tell me not inviting him would cause a diplomatic incident, then you tell me that sitting him next to a Zionist activist will cause problems, and now you're telling me he can't sit next to a Maronite Christian even though they're both Lebanese? Hikari-san, I think this--"
Usagi was interrupted by the arrival of Mamoru, and she didn't mind in the least. The look on his face did not go unnoticed, and underneath the make-up, she flushed slightly.
"Mamo-chan..." She greeted him with a kiss, not caring who saw at the moment. "Thank you for the compliment, but it was really all her," she gestured to Sandy who was still packing up. "You look rather handsome yourself," she grinned. Usagi never tired of seeing Mamoru dressed up, he looked so dashing. She much preferred the formal look over his green jacket, any day, and silently swore to herself that she'd find a way to make that jacket disappear sometime after the wedding. Maybe a wayward candle? A loose cap on a bottle of bleach? Ah, the possibilities...She could blame just about anything on her clumsiness after it happened..
"I figured this was the only way we'll get to spend time together this evening," Usagi said, the maid holding open the door as she began to walk out. "And this delegation is critical. There are some serious WMD disarmament issues on the table here; they haven't given up their samples of Ebola and Anthrax yet and I'm getting impatient. Walk with us, Hikari-san," she gestured, and immediately found herself in the middle of people again. It was just part of being queen. "Anyway, Hikari-san, this is all getting ridiculous. I mean, this is our wedding and these people are going to have to learn to get along eventually, they might as well start then-- perhaps the event will have a tempering effect on them. Anyway, keep everything as it is, and have the calligrapher make some pretty cards that say: 'No politics, religion, or arms deals at the table' and we can put them near the centerpieces. Otherwise we'll be arranging chairs from now until Kingdom come. Is that alright with you Mamo-chan? Or would you rather elope?" She teased, though if he said yes Usagi would seriously consider the prospect.

Mamoru returned the kiss, for once not particularly caring about his audience. He glanced Sandy’s way and nodded politely, but quickly turned his attention back to Usagi. He gave her a cocky grin when she complimented him and murmured in a tone that only she and perhaps one or two people standing close could hear, “Don’t I always...”
He successfully ignored the maid holding the door as he followed Usagi out of it. “This was a great idea Usako, I really should have thought about it before I left. I’ve been rather distracted lately ...”
Mamoru nodded his understanding that the delegation was critical. He was aware of the WMD disarmament issues and knew that the whole ordeal had been troubling Usagi for awhile now. When Hikari and the rest of the people joined them, Mamoru stiffened slightly but other then that he didn’t react other then nodding politely at her. He listened to the seating plans, vaguely proud that Usagi was putting her foot down on some things. Although he was very aware of how important this wedding was to the world, he was also aware that it was their wedding.
“I think that it will be perfectly fine Usako and if it isn’t, well if they want to come then they will make it alright.” He paused a moment as if to think about the idea of eloping before sighing sadly and adding, “As much as the idea has merit, I think several people would get upset ... including the senshi. I don’t think I’d like to have them angry at me, they are looking forward to this almost as much as you are. Besides, I'm looking forward to seeing you in a wedding gown ...”

Luna knew that Usagi was right, if it had really been that the girl had simply been excited to be near the queen then she would have been far more flustered and excited. There was something else, but Luna had no real clue as to what it could be. She would simply have to keep an eye on things for awhile so that she might could figure it out. One good thing about being thought only the pet cat was that people often said and did things around you that they wouldn’t ordinarily say in front of just anyone. She had heard quite a few interesting things from people that hadn’t realized she was intelligent enough to understand. If she figured out what was going on she would be certain to tell Usagi, for the moment though all she could do was shrug it off.
She watched Usagi frown at yet another thing to trouble her and sighed sadly. The more she thought about it the more she realized how much Usagi was having to give up. She couldn’t even have her wedding the way she wanted and Luna was well aware how much importance girls put into their wedding dreams. It was such an important day for Usagi and yet it was so caught up in politics.
When Mamoru showed up, Luna decided not to intrude as best she could. She simply remained quietly trotting along at Usagi’s feet, content to watch and perhaps even hear things that Usagi might not notice. Still when she heard Usagi mentioning eloping she couldn’t help a small frustrated growl, even though Luna knew that Usagi was only teasing. The amount of trouble that would cause was simply too immense to even think about.

"Mamo-chan!" Usagi giggled under her breath, gently swatting him on the shoulder after his cocky comment. "Men can never take a compliment. Now let's see how far you strut after this," she teased, though her brow furrowed slightly at his remark about being distracted. "Yes... That was brought to my attention," Usagi said, declining to state that Luna had been the one to clue her in. "What's distracting you, Mamo-chan?" She asked, tilting her head inquisitively. "Maybe we can steal away a moment after this meeting." She listened to his response to her question about the wedding table seating arrangements, nodding in agreement. "They'll behave, alright."
Usagi laughed a bit at his response to her teasing request about eloping. "Ah, but I can take the dress with me!" she joked. "And we can call the senshi and tell them to meet us in Rei's temple, and she can marry us. Meet me there in 30 minutes?" She caught Hikari's wide-eyed expression and laughed again. "Ah, I'm just kidding, Hikari-san. I didn't spend as much time as I did already to back out now!" And money, at that...
Hikari just nodded, as they continued to walk to the room. "His majesty hasn't been briefed on this--"
"That's alright, he can follow my lead for introductions. Right, Mamo-chan?" She asked. It was hard to carry on a conversation with him when there were so many other people demanding her attention.
"Well, there has been a change in positioning--"
"I have them all memorized," Usagi interrupted. "I don't care if someone switched places, I still have the order down. What next?"
"Well, we received some new satellite photos of the camps in Sumatra..."
"We'll have to wait on that until later... Tomorrow, even." She stopped in front of the door, wondering how she got from the dressing room to here without saying all that much to Mamoru, and nothing to Luna. "I'm sorry, Mamo-chan, Luna... You see what I mean?" she said with a sigh, gesturing behind her at the small caravan that had accumulated, of aides with papers and reports and messages, all waiting to be acknowledged. "There's going to be press in there. No questions, just photos. Prepared to be blinded. Luna, stay close to me..." Usagi didn't anyone stepping on her tail or something. "Mamo-chan, is there anything before we go in?" When the mics were recording, Usagi knew they'd have to be careful about conversations... The last time she spoke on a hot mic inadvertently, it had been to complain about the reporter from Reuters. That had not gone over very well once her remarks were published.
