Makoto nodded. “I understand. It’s very hard to keep things low-key when it comes to the staff around here. I never knew people could be so two-timing until we hired on this lot.” She waved her hand. “That’s beside the point though.”
Forgoing the use of a fork, she broke off a piece of the cake and popped it into her mouth, then took a sip of coffee. She looked up as Rei began to speak again. “There are a few tables that would meet those criteria, actually. But for the best privacy, I could probably get you in at the chef’s table. It’s in the back, separated from the dining room by a wall, and is open only to the kitchen. Not to mention, I’d be your server, so that would help with privacy as well, since you wouldn’t have to worry about anyone strange breaking into your conversation. I can come and go as often as you like, and I’d be able to see you from my station so if you need my assistance I can be there in a split-second.”

Assistance? If she needed help killing him, then Rei was more off her game than usual. Assuming he was a complete ass, anyway. Rei attempted not to expect the worse of him (a hard thing to do, considering that he was male. Which was more than half the problem here, actually. Things would be so much simpler if she were a lesbian.) and took another sip of her coffee. "That could work, actually, if you could swing it? I would very much appreciate the help."

“I’m sure I could. Just let me know what day you’re planning on so I can make sure there’s an opening in the schedule. Though I can tell you lunchtime is a little quieter overall than the dinner rush… if that helps in your decision.” Makoto thought back to recent business. While she hadn’t actually been at the restaurant in the past week or so, she recalled how busy things had been leading up to New Years. She did hope that things had settled down somewhat now that most of the visitors had left Tokyo, but knew that it was still a popular dining spot. Now that she was thinking about it, she really did need to call Shimara and give her an update on what her revised work schedule was going to be…

"The next available..." Rei replied immediatly. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, "He needs to know and the longer I put it off the harder this is going to be. And the more likely he'll just get pissed that I took so long in telling him."
At least, the Jadeite from her memories would have reacted that way. It was hard to gauge, as she reminded herself once again that this wasn't Jadeite. Another bite of utterly delicious cake and Rei let her shoulders slump a little. "And I'd like to get this over as quickly as I can. The sooner he knows, the sooner we can just... tell people and let the chips fall as they may."
Her father was going to have kittens.

“So tomorrow then? I’ll have to give Shimara a call just to be sure it’s open and to let her know I’ll be coming in with guests. It shouldn’t be a problem.” Makoto stood. “Let me go do that now, actually. I’ll be just a minute.” She placed her hand upon Rei’s before leaving the kitchen. “I don’t blame you for wanting to tell him quickly. And I think you’re doing the right thing by actively planning it.” Makoto smiled and patted Rei’s hand and left to use the private line in her quarters.
Just as she promised, she was back within a few minutes and smiling. “We’re all set. She says things have settled way down and the table is open most of tomorrow. I told her to keep a window open from noon until two for me, so you’ll have two hours, maybe more if it’s not booked at the last minute for anything. Do you think that’ll be enough?”

Rei nodded, "Definitely and thank you." By the time Makoto had gotten back, she'd finished her slice of cake and most of her coffee. "I certainly hope it doesn't take two hours." That was said with a faint laugh into the remainder of her drink.
The priestess sighed faintly and turned her smile on her sister, "Thank you, mako. You've helped me a lot these past few weeks."
