"Of course I'm sure! Stop asking me that... If I wasn't sure I wouldn't have said it," Usagi said gleefully, taking Luna's hand and heading out of the room.
"Thanks!" she waved to the agent. "Don't work too hard!" She wanted to get back to get some make-up on Luna, though she still wondered about Agent Zubriggen. Poor man was here during the party. Usagi wondered what he did when he had to go to the restroom...
Deciding such thoughts were silly, she rolled her eyes at Luna's worry about the timing. "A Queen is never late, everyone else is simply early," Usagi proclaimed with a giggle. It felt so rich to say that, especially after all of the grief she got from Luna over the years for her lack of punctuality. "And it's not just my party-- it's yours too! So we have to make sure you're ready!" Usagi babbled as she walked along.
"So, what kind of make-up are you thinking? I say some kind of tinted gloss, graphite colored liner and then a sheer, shimmery gold shadow... something iridescent... mascara, of course... you want blush? Or maybe more of a white shimmery shadow, to bring out the jeweled part of that dress... What do you want?" Usagi asked, still thrilled to be playing stylist. "OH! We could brush the whiter powder on the inside and the corners of the lids to reflect the light that the earrings are setting off, and then..." she flushed. "...Sorry, Luna, I'm having too much fun for my own good. I'll shut up and you can tell me what you want."

Luna nodded a polite good bye to Agent Zubriggen, but most of her concentration was on Usagi and the upcoming night. She smirked just a bit when Usagi said that a queen was never late and then said teasingly, “I guess you got lucky then, since you were never good at arriving on time.” She paused a moment before adding, “I can’t wait, this is the most fun I’ve had in a long time ...”
As they walked, Luna tried to think about the different kinds of make-up she could choose, but honestly it had been so long since she had worried about anything like that she didn’t know what would be best. She glanced at Usagi out of the corner of her eye and was thrilled to see that her friend was enjoying herself so very much. Usagi needed to be cheered up whether she realized it or not. If helping her choose the best make-up would not only make certain that Luna looked her best, but would also help keep Usagi’s thoughts on a more happier note then Luna was all for it.
Luna waved the apology away and said, “I’ve been a cat for so long Usagi, I don’t know what would look best and what wouldn’t. If your willing, I’ll let you be the stylist. You tell me what will look best and we’ll go with it. I trust your judgement. Everything you just said sounds great and I do so want to look my best tonight.”

"It's gonna be great!" Usagi squealed, skipping along with Luna. In many ways, she was more excited about seeing her friend have fun than enjoying the festivities herself.
Usagi's grin grew as Luna practically gave her carte blanche over the make-up. "Oh, you will when I'm through with you!" Usagi crowed. "You'll look amazing!"
Perhaps she shouldn't show so much enthusiasm, but it was fun to be girly with Luna! Usagi escorted her friend to the vanity in one of the dressing room, pulling open drawers and muttering to herself once more as she pulled out all sorts of colors of professional quality make-up. Usually someone else applied it for her for public events, but she knew how to do it herself and achieve good results.
She started by dabbed and smoothing on a tinted moisturizer, followed by translucent powder so that everything would set, but still look natural. No one liked a cake of make-up on their face. She carefully applied a graphite colored liner, and followed it by brushing on a careful line of dark powder at Luna's lids, using a blending brush to smudge it slightly, and then brushing on a golden powder to the crease, and then a shimmery one up to the brow, with a dot of white shimmer at the corners of the eyes to reflect the light, and a touch along the crease line, just to give more definition. Deciding not to frighten off her friend by getting out the eyelash curlers-- Usagi flinched whenever she had to use them on herself, much less another person-- she used the wand to tease and lengthen Luna's full lashes.
She went easy on the blush, not speaking much while she was working, nibbling on her lower lip. Usagi forced herself to slow down, she didn't want her clumsiness coming back to haunt her and spilling powder all over Luna. Starting at the apples of her cheeks, she brushed it back towards the woman's natural hairline. Luna had such wonderfully high cheekbones, she wanted to show them off. A tinted gloss brushed onto the lips finished it off, and Usagi set down the tools with a flourish, smiling at her masterpiece. "Take a look, she encouraged, hoping that the maids would know what to put back. She sure had cluttered up the vanity top doing this...
"You'll be the belle of the ball!" Usagi whispered, her voice lowered as if in awe. "Everyone will be so jealous. Just look at how gorgeous you are, Luna!" Of course, she was gorgeous without the clothes and make-up, but there was something magical about getting all dressed up.

Luna turned to look into the mirror when Usagi was done and was startled at what she saw. She stared quietly for a moment, speechless with wonder. Could that really be her staring back from the reflection? Usagi had outdone herself.
She turned to hug Usagi tightly, careful not to mess either of them up as she murmured, “Thank you Usagi, for everything.”
Luna pulled away, delight still very evident in her eyes as she smiled happily at her friend. “This has been the best day so far and it hasn’t even really started yet.”

"You're welcome, Luna. It's been my pleasure," Usagi smiled, pulling away from her friend and beaming at her last words. Her smile turned into a mischievous grin as she gave Luna a gentle push towards the door.
"Luna, it just HAS started! Now get out there and go dazzle Artemis! Just make sure he doesn't fall down the stairs from how gorgeous you are," she teased, placing her hands on her hips. "I'll see you at the ball later on!"
