Zacharie chuckled a little and shrugged, "If you're patient, something will always come along. People always jump the gun, go with the first thing they look at..." He shook his head, "In a way it's a bit exciting. Well, probably more for me than it is you. I have the fall-back claim of 'new country, new city, new people, etcetra etcetra.' You just get a new place to stay and the exciting work of new neighbors."
He flashed his best 'joking' grin at the man, then returned to quite opening admiring one of the younger agents in the office. "This island was already over crowded and I suppose it's only going to get worse."

Mamoru nodded in agreement and murmured, “I know that, I’m a usually a fairly patient person ... this entire ordeal is just hard I guess. I’ll get over it and find a nice enough place I suppose.”
He paused for a moment before adding, “I doubt I’ll ever really know whoever my neighbors are. I tend to stick to myself most of the time, not really a socializing type of person.” Mamoru realized of course that he had been the one to strike up this conversation, which would make it seem as if he did regularly socialize. This entire situation wasn’t the same though, not to him anyway.
Mamoru followed Zacharie’s gaze over to the younger agent that he was openly admiring, but the sight of her didn’t really faze him. As far as he was concerned, no woman could hold a candle to the beautiful Usagi.
“Probably, as far as I can see most people just want to be as close to the power as they can get. If not power then they’d chase after money and glory.”

"You're not, are you?" Zacharie couldn't help but arch a brow at that question. He didn't say anything more on that topic but simple smiled and nodded. "Perhaps. There are some who are genuine, but there is a reason why most of the rich and famous tend to stick to their own. At least with their own crowd, they know that they're all fake."

“No, I’m not, or rather wasn’t ...”
Mamoru glared briefly at Zacharie, but then simply shrugged off the whole topic. He loved Usagi, it didn’t matter to him whether she was a queen, a princess, or just an ordinary woman. It was Usagi, not Serenity that he had asked to marry him. He was well aware that there were probably some people in the world that thought he had other reasons, but there wasn’t anything he could do about that. The last thing he really wanted to do right now was get into a discussion about why he had wanted to marry the queen. For that matter, he didn’t particularly wish to be discussing Usagi for any reason.
He glanced back to the agent, wondering if he should head back. Mamoru had been away from the desk for a good few minutes now. He certainly didn’t want the man to think about going on to some other customer simply because he wasn’t over there. He didn’t want to annoy Zacharie by forcing the conversation to continue anyway, but if he walked away he would risk not being able to get to know the man. Technically, that would happen no matter when he ended the conversation. You really couldn’t get to know someone over a small conversation in a real estate office, it just wasn’t possible. What he needed was a guarantee that he would be able to get to know him better, a chance to find out for sure whether Zacharie was Zoisite’s other half or not.
Mamoru briefly wondered if Zacharie might possibly agree to combine their resources and find an apartment together. If he could convince him of that, he would be able to keep an eye on Zacharie and find out if he was who he thought he was. He hesitated a moment, inwardly debating whether it was a good idea or not. There was the chance that Zacharie would return to his original idea that he had only started the conversation to ask him out. However, if it would help his Shitennou out in the long run, it was a chance he was going to have to take.
He turned back to Zacharie and said, “You know, it might be a little easier to find an acceptable apartment if we combined our resources a bit. That way they would only have to find one apartment, instead of wasting time searching for two of them. It would get things done a lot faster at any rate, otherwise we both might be here all day.”
Mamoru leaned back in his chair, watching Zacharie warily as he waited to see how the younger man would react.

Zacharie blinked. This random man--powerful and probably wealthy man--was asking about being roomates? Somehow it was amazing. Almost laughable, really, and his lips did twitch just a little. Then he seemed to realize that Mamoru was serious.
There was a long pause as Zacharie actually found himself considering this. It would mean less money on rent. But it also meant living with a total stranger, who was probably an in-the-closet homosexual (he had a curse of attracting them, really) and sharing space with another person. THEN AGAIN, it also meant he'd have someone around to translate Japanese for him, someone to talk to, a person to share space with... and he might even be able to teach the poor man something about fashion.
"Do you like cats?"

Mamoru tensed just a little when Zacharie’s lips twitched a bit, believing that his offer was about to be laughed at or worse rejected. He really should have expected it, after all Zacharie didn’t know anything about him except that he was the former consort.
He steeled himself for the rejection as Zacharie remained silent for a while. He had possibly failed in this attempt to be able to keep an eye on the man, which of course meant that if he wanted to find out if this was indeed Zoisite he would have to work harder. He needed to figure out a foolproof plan to be able to get to know him better, but just how could he accomplish that? He wouldn’t have the kind of resources he could have had a few days ago to research someone, though he could probably do that in the conventional manner. After all, people investigated other people every day didn’t they?
It was then that Zacharie finally spoke up. Mamoru blinked in surprise, not having expected those words but he simply shrugged and replied, “I don’t mind cats. I’ve kind of gotten use to them over the years. Does that mean you would agree?”

"Perhaps. But I hate cats," The man nodded and tapped his nose, "Allergic. ... well. It would cut down on the costs. I warn you, my Japanese is horrendous." Like your jacket.

“Then it’s a good thing that I don’t actually own any cats.” Mamoru grinned, feeling a little happier then he had felt when he woke up that morning. Things were working out the way he wanted them to. He would be able to develop a friendship with Zacharie, a man that would hopefully turn out to be the missing other half of Zoisite. Mamoru briefly wondered what would happen if Zacharie ever came in contact with the stone that Zoisite’s soul resided in. He would just have to make certain that didn’t occur unless he could be sure that nothing bad would happen.
“You don’t have to worry about horrendous Japanese, I don’t mind translating for you.” He gestured toward the agent he had been working with earlier and added, “I suppose we should inform them of this decision then.”
