Zach glanced at his king in worry. Joking aside, he was actually concerned about Endymion's problems. Nodding along with him, the blond was far more concerned with that than with the stone which Nephrite was staring at. And then the flash of light overtook him and the shade couldn't help but jump at the noise of it. He didn't technically have ears, but still he clapped his hands over them and wished to the Gods that it would actually drown out the noise. it didn't, of course, and he looked up in relief when it died down.
Jadeite's stone had cracked. The blond stared at it, along with all the rest of him he'd think, and then muttered faintly, "Sire, I think Jadeite is calling in ill."

Mamoru had been about to respond to Kunzite when Nephrite beckoned him closer, however before he was able to move the room was filled with the horrible noise. He instinctively covered his face with his arm, uncertain what was actually happening. The moment the noise faded into silence he lowered his arm and stared at the cracked stone that had held the soul of his missing Shitennou.
He continued to stare quietly until he heard Zoisite’s faintly muttered words and then he managed an equally faint, “I think that is something of an understatement Zoisite.”
Shaking his head to clear away the shock of what had just happened he continued in a more troubled tone of voice, “How could something like his happen? Do you think it has anything to do with that intruder or was this something entirely different?”

Aya flew down the hallway with a fire at her heels. Though she was quite new to her position she already knew the Priestess well enough to know that hesitation on her orders would only bring a lecture. Or worse, a look of the worst disappointment.
Regardless, it took precious time to get through to the king. No matter that she had her orders, the King had requested to be alone. But eventually they gave in when to the name of Sailor Mars, and Aya herself was allowed to knock at the soon-to-be king's chamber door.

Mamoru quickly allowed his connection with his Shitennou to fade, glaring at the door in anger. He knew that he had specifically asked to be left alone, therefore whoever was now knocking at his door had better have a good excuse. He stormed over to the doors and threw them open and gave Aya one of his best intimidating glares before growling, “This had better be important.”

Aya tried not to flinch. She'd never seen the king in such a mood, but her lady's were much worse, "The Sailor Mars sent me to find you, sire. She says it is urgent and requests that you come immediately to the shrine."

Mamoru relaxed somewhat, knowing that Sailor Mars wouldn't have sent for him so urgently if it hadn't been important. However, he couldn't help still feeling agitated. He had really needed to continue his conversation, and yet now that he wasn't concentrating so fully on his connection to his Shitennou he suddenly became aware of something, something important that had happened here.
Nodding once he muttered, "Very well then ...", before dashing off in the direction of the shrine not bothering to say anything else.

As soon as Endymion was distracted from their connection Nephrite could feel himself fade a little. He could see the young priestess who had come begging so urgently on Sailor Mars' behalf but knew that he, Kunzite, and Zoisite would appear as nothing more than vague shadows to her if at all.
The king rushed out after her without a word or even a dismissal but Nephrite had enough personal power to redirect his essence back into his own stoned residence. Which is he did so with great reluctance. Without a body of his own it recquired more power to maintain a form than to inhabit a rock. Necessity was the mother of invention, not happiness, and the resentment curled through his voice accompanied by something like envy.
"Jadeite's been reborn, the bastard."
He spoke his thoughts plainly as usual and waited impatiently for the others' responses, even though he knew that he was right. That was the only thing that could split these stones as far as he could tell.

Kunzite had turned hearing Nephrite as he beckoned Endymion closer. He frowned slightly as he saw that Jadeite's stone was cracking. When the noise started, the grimace worn by the shade of the eldest and first of the Shitennou was slight, one only those closest to him would even notice.
Before any of them could answer Endymion's question, the knock was heard and the connection faded. Kunzite immediately returned to his stone.
"Let's hope that's what it was." If Kunzite was still manifested there'd be a slight smile on his lips, both at the fortune of the youngest of them and the apparent envy of his second. "If he has been, perhaps the rest of us will be as well, Nephrite. Be patient. Our penance may take on a more tangible form soon enough."
