"I think... perhaps I should face this alone," Rei replied after a long moment. She smiled at Makoto, though, "Thank you for the help, though." The Jupiter Princess would understand, Rei knew, and when her name was called she got up and took in a deep breath and went back to face her first doctors appointment. This was something she should have taken care of years ago, yet she'd avoided it. Time to pay the piper.
~~
An hour later, Rei was back. They'd had to begin the STD testing, though she wouldn't get the results on that for a week or so yet. After discussing it with the doctor--who was a rather nice man, just as Makoto had said--Rei had decided that that was the best course of action. He'd assured her that she wasn't the first such case and nor was she likely to be the last; somehow that had made her feel better, despite her personal failing, and given her several pamphlets on various STDs and prevention methods, as well as birth control. Then had come the conversation she'd been most fearful of.
Two weeks. It was going to take two weeks for her to find out if the 'worst' mistake had been made. There was what he'd charmingly referred to as "Plan B"... Rei wasn't sure how she felt about that. The woman looked out across the room, easily picking out Makoto and headed over to her. She heaved a little sigh of relief. "Thank you for suggesting him."

Makoto smiled back at Rei. "No worries, hon. I'll be right here when you get back." When they called Rei's name, she gave another quick smile and a half wave as her friend exited the waiting area. She looked down at the small coffee table in front of her and scanned for a decent magazine to keep her occupied while she waited for Rei. She frowned at the small selection...a couple sporting mags and several tabloid-style mags. She decided she'd indulge in one of the tabloids, and selected the lesser evil of the few there were...some sort of "today's fashion" thing.
She spent some time flipping through the pages, taking her time reading the articles. It's not like she had anything else to do for now. About a half hour later, and halfway through the magazine she'd reached a section on men's clothing. As she wasn't particularly interested in that sort of thing, she flipped a couple pages to get to the next section. She heard the door to the office open and looked up to see if it was Rei, which it wasn't. When she looked back down at her magazine she gasped and immediately began to blush. 'HOLY SHIT!' was pretty much the first and only thought that entered her mind. It was the blue-eyed stranger, and he was in a full page ad for a rather prestigious brand of clothing, and he was frickin' gorgeous. Suddenly becoming self-aware she looked around the room just to make sure nobody was staring at her. Once she was satisfied she looked back down. The only thing staring at her was him. And then the headache started. 'Oh god, not now!' she thought and began to dig through her purse for her sacred bottle of Tylenol. Once she found it, it was practically all she could do to keep from running to the water cooler so she could get something to chase the pills with.
Mako slowly moved back to her previous seat. She looked around again, just to be sure the coast was clear. And ever so quietly, she tore the page from the magazine. Once it was torn free she quickly folded it and stuck it in her purse. 'I'm just showing this to Rei and then I'm throwing it out,' she thought. 'Maybe.' Once again her cheeks reddened and she decided to put the magazine down and just quietly wait for Rei. Fortunately, it wasn't much longer before Rei walked out of the office. She smiled, relieved, and stood. "No problem. Is there anything else you'd like to do while we're out, or are you ready to head back home?"

Rei considered that for a few moments, trying to think if she was actually up for anything. It was then that her stomach complained a little and she realized that she hadn't had anything to eat except for a cookie and some tea. After checking her watch the woman replied, "How about a late breakfast? I'm not certain if there are any good diner's around here..." But Makoto usually knew. She had to be fairly up to date on her competition-slash-peers. Somehow she was starving now that that ordeal was over.

Makoto checked her own watch. She knew she needed to be at Lumiere by lunchtime to meet with Minako. But that was still a couple hours away, they had time. And she had to show Rei what she'd just found.
"Sure, I know a great place. It's actually just around the corner from here. Do you mind walking? It's only a block away."
As they headed off for the diner, Mako contemplated how she would mention her discovery to Rei. 'Oh what the hell, nothing gets to the point like being direct.' She reached for the piece of paper she'd tucked into her purse. "Rei-chan, while you were in with the doctor I found something while I was browsing a magazine. I, uh, thought you might be interested in seeing this..." and she handed over the folded piece of paper.

Rei didn't mind at all. Walking was better for them, after all, and she headed out after Makoto. When they were outside, mako dipped her hand into her purse and showed her the stolen article. Rei took it gingerly, smoothing it out as her eyes ran over... She stopped in her tracks a moment, then continued to walk. "Alright, he's a model. That might account for a little of the reason why he seems so familiar. .... No. No that just doesn't sound right. This isn't it."

Makoto frowned slightly at that. "Well, damn." She caught another glimpse of him as Rei walked beside her with the advert opened. It seemed no matter where she was, his eyes were always on her. And it was slowly driving her insane. She massaged the bridge of her nose, hoping to relieve some of the pain that the Tylenol hadn't taken away yet. She also wondered how she could get that paper back from Rei without being obvious about it.
They rounded a corner and Makoto could see the sign for the diner just ahead. She pointed to it and said "We're almost there." Her stomach made a small growl, signaling her own hunger. "Good thing, too. I guess I didn't realise just how hungry I was." She chuckled.
As they reached the door, she held it open once again for Rei. Once they were inside, she smiled at the hostess. "Booth for two, please." As the woman marked off a table and grabbed menus, Mako turned to Rei "I really think you'll like this place."

Rei folded the paper into quarters, playing with it lightly as they walked. Her thoughts were rolling about her head and she felt unable to catch them. They reached the diner then and she slipped through the door Makoto held open for her. They were seated and Rei sipped at the water glass immediately provided for them. "I trust your judgment," She told her friend with a smile and then considered the piece of paper again. Not seeing any reason to keep it, the woman put it on the table without a thought and looked out the window.
"hmm... I just feel like there's something I'm missing. Something which should be obvious."

Makoto smiled again at the hostess as they were seated and again as water was poured for them. Her eyes lazily scanned the menu while they waited for the server to come take their order. She'd tried several items here before, all of which had been delicious, and was trying to make up her mind if she wanted to try something new or something she already liked. She glanced up at Rei when she heard her speak. "I wish I knew. I don't think my feelings are quite as strong as yours, but I've also got this slightly nagging feeling that something big is going on. It's like there's something pulling at things in my head."
She glanced down at the folded paper on the table. She couldn't see his picture, but she could still feel his eyes. She spoke again, a bit softer, and finished her thought. "I don't know what it is, and I'm not quite sure I really want to either."

Rei nodded silently. She finally picked up her menu and glanced at it just as the poor waitress came over. Unsure of what to order, for her normal breakfast consisted of rice porridge and fruit, the priestess blinked at the menu for a long moment. "Mmm... can you recommend anything Mako?" She certainly wasn't going to discuss business in front of the waitstaff.

Makoto looked up as the waitress came to their table. She nodded at Rei's request. "I'll just order for the both of us." She smiled up at the waitress and gave their order. "Yes, we'd like a mixed fruit and yogurt bowl, eggs florentine, and a side of toast. One check please, thank you." She smiled at Rei as she handed her menu to the server. "This one's on me, Rei-chan."

Rei might have objected... but being friends as long as they had had opened her mind to the idea that sometimes people paid for their friends; just as she occasionally paid for Mako. It wasn't because the other couldn't take care of themselves, only that it was nice to do something for a friend from time to time. She smiled at her friend's choice, thinking that such a style of breakfast wasn't terrible every once in awhile and handed her menu over to the waitress.
As soon as the other woman was gone, Rei returned to the topic at hand. "Whatever it is, I don't like it. I've learned to trust these feelings, and my feelings are saying not to get too close to these guys. Unfortunately, I don't think it wise to let them fall too far out of our sights either. If he's a model he should be able to track down... remind me to ask Lucan for his information when we get back. I'm going to track him down and see what it was he wanted my help with. If he still wants it I might be able to figure out more of what is going on here."

Although Makoto didn’t like the idea of that guy coming back to the palace, she had to agree with Rei. They didn’t have enough information about him at all, and if he was indeed a dangerous person… She nodded her agreement. “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I get it. Hopefully Lucan will be willing to allow him back on the premises… He may need a little persuasion.” She wiggled her eyebrows at Rei. It wasn’t a huge secret between them, more like an inside joke, that they found Lucan incredibly attractive. And of course like sisters, they took every opportunity to tease one another about it. She laughed, “Time to dig out the short skirt and red pumps, Rei-chan.”

Rei lifted her nose a little at the comment about Lucan. Yet, she couldn't seem to help the knowing little smile that lit upon her lips as she raised her water glass to her mouth. After taking a sip, she glanced the other woman over, "Actually... that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think I'll see him right after this; I need a lift to my day. ... I have this cute little skirt that mina bought me for my last birthday, but never had the excuse to wear it."

Makoto giggled. “I would love to be a fly on that wall. His reaction alone would totally be worth getting swatted.”
The waitress was already back with their breakfast. She placed everything on the table and asked “Is there anything else I can get you ladies?” Makoto shook her head and said “I think I’m all set. Rei, how about you?”
She looked back down at her watch again. They were still making pretty good time, but she still had to get Rei back to the palace before she could head to Lumiere for lunch service. “Let’s dig in. I’m starving!” She didn’t want to rush Rei, but she didn’t want to waste time either.

"I'm fine, thank you," She nodded to the waitress. When the woman left, Rei smiled at her friend and nodded. They both had things to do and Rei hadn't lost herself enough to think that Makoto's day was entirely free. "I'll let you know how things go with Lucan." She promised the other girl as she ate.
